Acrylic painting is a unique way of making art. It uses colourful particles mixed with water called an acrylic polymer. You can use thin acrylic paints with water, like watercolours, or apply thick layers to create textured effects. The great thing about acrylic paint is that it dries fast. It means you can work on your painting quickly, unlike oil paints, which can take weeks to dry.
Due to their tiny micropores, acrylic paints are more prone to dust. Moreover, they start fading after some time. So, varnishing acrylic paints acts as a barrier to preserve and enhance the overall quality. Varnish keeps your painting safe from dirt and pollution, making it last longer. It's important because it protects the colours from sunlight, keeping them bright and preventing them from fading or changing colour over time.
This layer of varnish also preserves the colours in acrylic paintings. It enhances the aesthetic quality of the painting by creating a uniform finish with its pigments. The varnishing process intensifies the vibrancy and gives it a glossy, professional appearance.
The painting with a varnish layer is easy to clean and allows flexibility in restoration as this layer is easily removable. So, varnishing acrylic paintings is an essential step that provides protection, gives a professional aesthetic look, and preserves your painting for a longer time. This varnish layer is easily replaceable and removes all dust and dirt without disturbing the layers of paint.
So, if you want to remove dirt or dust from a painting in the future, apply a new varnish coat instead of adding more colours. You can also use an isolation coat before varnishing, which creates a barrier and protects the paint when the varnish is removed. This isolation coat removes varnish without affecting the acrylic paint layers. The most suitable isolation coat is Golden Soft Gel, also known as Gloss, diluted with water that provides sufficient levelling and foam release for your acrylic paintings.
These are some types of varnishes, each with its unique properties.
Here are some materials require for the process of varnishing
Applying varnish to an acrylic painting is not difficult, but achieving a perfect and smooth layer requires practice. Here is a simple guide on how to apply varnish more efficiently
Preparation is the first and most crucial step in applying varnish to your painting. It would help to dry your painting entirely before applying the varnish layer. Compared to other painting mediums, acrylic painting typically dries fast. However, if the paint is slightly wet and you start varnishing, it will lead to streaks or uneven application. Letting it completely dry before varnishing is necessary, as it saves time and effort. When the painting is completely dry, lightly brush away any dust particles or debris.
As mentioned above, an isolation layer is like a shield, protecting your artwork from dissolution after the varnish. It protects your painting and helps to easily remove the varnish layer without affecting the acrylic paints. This function allows the rest of the varnish to stay smooth and uniform. Similarly, this protective layer will shield your artwork from any chemical damage that removing the varnish may cause.
A soft acrylic gel medium, such as Soft Gloss gel from Golden, will be a good choice for this layer. Add roughly 30% water and 70% gel medium mixture for the isolation gel beaker while stirring gently. However, this ratio can be adjusted slightly to your taste for a more fluffy or thicker isolation layer.
Before applying varnish, choose your varnish, whether it's glossy, matte, or satin, according to your preference. For liquid varnish, dilute it with water. It would help if you took a glass jar or plastic cup to pour and dilute it with water. Make sure it has a wide opening that fits your brush size. Read the instructions carefully mentioned on the varnish bottle. Start applying the varnish from the centre with thin layers to the outward edges of the canvas. It helps to prevent it from dripping.
You can also complete your varnish layer in two halves. It ensures you do not apply extra layers and effortlessly handles the shapes. Make sure that you have applied a sufficient coat according to your varnish type, as follows:
While processing, covering your work with a box or screen is often a good idea. When the varnish is drying, it becomes very sticky. This stickiness helps prevent dust, animal hair, or anything else from floating around and sticking to it. Nobody wants varnish covered in fur!
After drying, you can display your unique artwork anywhere without worrying about scratches, sunlight damage, or yellowing. Additionally, you can confidently show and hang your masterpiece on the wall or showcase it anywhere you desire, knowing it will stay vibrant and beautiful for many years.
The varnishing process should be done in a ventilated area to reduce exposure to fumes and other harmful chemicals.
After vanishing, immediately clean brushes and tools after use with a bar of soap and water to remove all residual varnish. If varnish has dried on brushes or tools, place them in a solvent recommended for acrylic paint cleanup and then wash with soap and water. Keeping the store varnish and other artist materials in a cool room with no moisture and out of direct sunlight and heat sources is recommended. Make sure containers are tightly sealed to stop evaporation and preserve the quality of the varnish. Stores should avoid sources that are unsafe to ignite or contain flammable substances.
Acrylic painting provides a fast-drying surface to achieve your desired texture. You can preserve your beautiful artwork with varnish. The isolation layer is beneficial if you want to remove this varnish layer in the future. The type of varnish depends on your preference, such as matte or glossy, liquid or spray, and permanent or temporary. Therefore, follow the steps carefully to varnish your acrylic painting to make it more attractive and vibrant and serve it for many years.

Canvas facilitates the creation of substantial artwork due to its lightweight nature and portability. Moreover, canvas is less likely to warp or crack than other options, including wooden panels, metals, glass, etc.
As for its composition, canvas primarily consists of cotton or linen fibers. Cotton canvas offers an economical and user-friendly option, while linen canvas boasts durability. Cotton weaving produces a fabric with strength and endurance, utilizing the original characteristics of cotton fibers. First, the wooden frame is prepared, and the canvas is stretched tightly to give it a taut surface. Once it is ready, the gesso (a primer for preparatory coating) is applied to the surface. Priming the canvas provides a smooth and absorbent surface for painting.
Many stores nowadays sell these ready-to-use canvases for painting in different sizes.
Canvas comes in many types with different weights and textures. So, you can select the canvas that aligns with your artistic vision and preferences for your artwork. The kind of canvas can affect how well it absorbs paint, its texture, and its overall performance in art projects.
Different canvases are available in various forms. The selection depends on your budget, application, and the purpose of your artwork.
These are made of cotton canvas, which offers high quality and is more affordable than stretch canvas. Cotton is a common, versatile, and durable material used in canvas production. These are often attached to rigid boards or panels, which provide a stable surface for your artwork without additional support.
These canvas cotton panels are more convenient for artists who want a ready-to-use surface. The 100% cotton canvas boards suit multiple artworks, including acrylic, oil, and mixed media. It does not require extra effort to stretch over the frame.
Moreover, it is more portable and often lighter than traditional canvases. Therefore, students can work in different locations and carry them along.
Stretched canvas is famous as it provides a responsive, spring-like painting surface. It offers a convenient solution for using brushes and painting knives, as it comes pre-stretched over a wooden frame when purchased. It reduces the risk of damage to the artwork, as the canvas remains securely in place.
Moreover, the stretching process is precisely executed with modern technology, eliminating the need for manual stretching. However, the advanced preparation and materials make the stretched canvas pricier. This stretched artwork can also be created with cotton or linen; cotton canvases are more affordable and durable than linen.
Stretched canvas gives a contemporary and finished look and sometimes does not require framing. This canvas suits various painting mediums, including acrylic, mixed, and oil. You can also customize your stretched canvas by choosing a specific size and shape and ordering it unprimed if you prefer to apply your primer.
Canvas pads consist of primed canvas sheets bound in book format. It is similar to a sketch pad, which contains sheets of canvas. These pads are lightweight, portable, and convenient to carry, which provides flexibility for different projects. The sheets are adaptable to later stretching or mounting and share similarities with canvas panels. These pads are more cost-effective than stretched canvas.
These are commonly used for studies, sketches, and practice paintings. However, it's important to clarify that canvas pads may not maintain quality over time, as may some other art formats. Therefore, they are especially suitable for artistic practice and experimentation rather than long-term preservation.
Canvas rolls are made to offer flexibility, affordability, and creative freedom. Canvas rolls serve various purposes in the world of art and creative expression. These rolls are usually made of linen and cotton. They are highly customizable. Canvas rolls are an idea for artists who require specific sizes or surfaces for their work.
You can cut the canvas roll according to your desired dimension, as it provides flexibility and versatility for various projects. They are beneficial for creating large-scale artwork that may not be feasible with a standard-size canvas. You can also unroll that canvas according to its length and size, which enables you to work on expansive pieces.
Canvas rolls allow you to push traditional canvas usage boundaries to express your creativity freely. These canvas rolls are unprimed, so you can apply your preferred primer before starting your art.
These rolls are compatible with various mediums, including acrylic, oils, watercolors, and mixed media. Therefore, these canvas rolls are commonly used in art schools, workshops, and educational settings for practice exercises. Overall, they help to develop skills without the constraints of a predetermined canvas size.
Canvas selection depends on the individual’s preference and the type of paint. So, these necessary factors should be noted while choosing a canvas.
By paying attention to these factors, you can select the canvas that best suits your artistic needs and preferences.
The canvas is more than just a material. The artist's vision awaits transformation into a blank slate. Choosing a suitable canvas with its properties is essential before starting your artwork. You can make your artwork more unique and attractive by considering the features of canvas. Different types include cotton canvas, known for affordability; stretched canvases for a finished look; canvas pads for portability; and canvas rolls for flexibility. Therefore, understanding these variations empowers you to make informed choices, making canvas an essential element in the creative process.
Serigraph art includes an age-old painting technique that offers a way to have a renowned painting in your home. However, the majority of people need clarification about screen printing and serigraphy. Some believe both are the same, while others believe they are different. We are here to clarify the difference, process, characteristics, and value of art. Let’s begin the article and learn about the serigraphy process and its widely used applications.
Do silkscreen and serigraph mean the same thing? Some people mix up the terms, thinking they're different, but they're just two ways to say the same thing. The original word for serigraph was silk screening.
Initially, a regular laborer or employee at the sign store or shop conducted the printing. Still, lately, during the WPA period, the artists were brought to work under federal programs and assigned to the printmaking sections. Since the word silk screening was widespread, the artist did not like it, giving this process a more artsy word, ‘serigraphy.'
Seri means silk, and a graph is a drawing of silk. The only difference is that silk was initially used in silk screen material. But in modern times, artificial materials are used. The term "serigraph" was popularized by the American artist Anthony Velonis in the 1930s.
The term serigraphy refers to screen printing. It employs a mesh screen to apply ink to various surfaces, including paper, fabric, metal, or plastic. Stencils are created on the screen, made with silk (from old times) or synthetic mesh (from modern times) stretched tightly over a frame. The mesh blocks off areas on the screen that are not meant to be printed. The ink is then passed through the open mesh spaces.
In serigraph printing, a squeegee is employed to push ink through the mesh onto the substrate. To create a multi-colored image, each color in the design needs a separate screen and printing pass. This process is mainly used in art, signage, and textiles. It has the versatility and ability to produce vibrant, opaque colors on various surfaces.
Serigraph includes various steps while making prints. The following steps are involved in the serigraph process:
The serigraphy process takes many weeks to complete, as it is a very labor-intensive and artistic procedure. The artist of the original image is consulted before the serigraphy process starts. Occasionally, artists prefer to introduce alterations while printing an edition, approaching the print as an original creation rather than a duplicate of a pre-existing image. In other circumstances, making adjustments or changes to the image highlights the specific colors or any particular design, which can result in the development of a vibrant and novel image.
The vibrant color of serigraphy is due to the thick ink layers being applied directly over the surface, which makes the serigraphy more attractive, lively, and prominent. It is different from other artwork because it has a unique texture and depth that others do not have. The characteristics include;
Serigraphs come with such close approximations to original art that sometimes it is difficult to differentiate. But if you need clarification, take a piece of paper and feel it. The lithographic paper mostly has heavy grains; however, the serigraphy paper has a smooth texture. Moreover, the serigraph is a modern and versatile method of stencil painting. The serigraph is easily identifiable and consists of the following features:
Besides identification and process making, Serigraph provides vast applications in different fields and industries, depending on demand. It is due to its versatility and ability to produce high-quality prints. Here are some applications of serigraphy in multiple fields
The artists utilize serigraphs to produce limited-edition fine art prints, which allow them to create the desired number of collectible artworks. Moreover, serigraphy will enable artists to experiment with different colors and layers to introduce various creative expressions.
Serigraphy is widely used for art prints, posters, and other promotional materials like banners. It is also utilized in advertisement campaigns for large-format prints and signage.
Serigraphy is extensively used in the textile industry to print various designs on T-shirts, hoodies, and garments, especially for children. Furthermore, the designers also utilize screen printing for interiors, home decor, and other fashion industries.
Serigraphy creates visually appealing packaging products like custom boxes, labels, or other containers. It also allows customization, contributing to brand identity and recognition. Moreover, this marketing method is famous for promoting merchandise like cushions, mugs, and other accessories. Therefore, it provides cost-effectiveness and versatility.
Serigraphy is also used in the electronic industry to print various conductors, circuit boards, and other electrodes, creating precise and intricate patterns. The sports industry uses it for making team uniforms, logos, numbers, and designs that ensure durability and colorfastness.
Serigraphy is employed to decorate glassware, ceramics, and other industrial products, which offer durability and more precision. Moreover, screen printing techniques mostly create custom designs, labels, and markings on automotive parts.
Silk printing is widely used in schools and other academic institutions, which helps teachers and students create charts, posters, and other visual materials. Hobbyists and DIY enthusiasts also consume screen printing to create personal items and art projects at home.
Serigraph prints warning signs, safety labels, and other instructional materials, especially in hospitals and construction sites. The serigraphy contributes to producing visually appealing and durable printed materials.
Apart from serigraphy, there are other various types of popular printmaking, such as fine art printmaking, lithographs, and giclee prints. However, Giclee is the most popular and trending art printing form due to its high quality and low cost. They are prints made from heavy-duty latex printers, providing the same textures and brushstrokes as original art. We at Miguel Camarena offer our exclusive original art in fine-quality prints. Check out our collection now.
Serigraphy, also known as screen printing, is an artistic printing technique that requires a mesh screen to transfer ink to various surfaces. Stencils define printed areas, forcing ink through the mesh using a squeegee. Limited bold colors, overlapping ridges, visible screen mesh patterns, and the artist's signature identify serigraphs. The process involves design preparation, screen coating, image exposure, printing with multiple colors, and a drying and finishing stage. Serigraphy produces vibrant, opaque prints and is often used for limited-edition, signed artworks.
]]>We will help clear up the difference and guide you through more details. So, let’s discuss lithograph vs. serigraph.
A lithograph is a planographic printing method in which the image is transferred to any printing surface using a chemical process. The Greek term is lithos, meaning stone, and ‘graphos,’ meaning writing.
In lithography, an image is drawn or transferred onto a flat surface with a greasy or oily substance. It could be a stone or a metal plate. The surface is then chemically treated so the ink sticks only to the greasy areas while repelling water from the non-greasy areas. The ink is applied to the surface after the stone is processed through chemicals. Therefore, the greasy image adheres to it while repelling the non-image areas. Lastly, the paper is pressed against the surface to absorb the excess ink.
There are two types of lithography:
The offset process is similar to the hand-pulled method, but the difference is that the original inked image is transferred from stone to a rubber blanket and then copied. Offset lithography is used for mass production, and its cost and time are significantly lower than those of others. Therefore, offset printing is a popular method for making posters.
In contrast, the term serigraphy often refers to screen printing. However, serigraphy is also a printmaking technique that involves stencil-based methods to create an image on paper or fabric.
Giclee differs from lithographs and serigraphs, representing high-quality digital processing that utilizes archival-quality inks and substrates to produce high-fidelity prints. Giclee prints are often considered fine art reproductions used to create high-quality reproductions of original artworks. Additionally, giclee prints can increase in value over time, the same as for original lithographs and serigraphs. It is also true that if they are made in limited numbers and are in demand among collectors, they are valued more. Serigraphs and lithographs are traditional printing methods that require manual processing in this modern era.
Giclee prints are preferred due to their prioritization of color reproduction and ability to provide premium quality. Every method has different processing steps and characteristics that cater to different artistic preferences and collector considerations.
Regarding affordability and scalability, lithography is considered more affordable than serigraph. The affordability depends on the process of making it, which differs from one to the other. The factors include edition size, artist reputation, and the complexity of the printing process. However, the serigraphy process is more complicated than lithography. Besides complexity, serigraphy requires more labor-intensive processing with separate screens for each color. Lithography could be a better option to acquire a print without spending too much. However, the following considerations influence some factors that make prints valuable:
The choice and consideration depend on what you are looking for. Opt for a serigraph if you seek a print of superior quality. The serigraph is more detailed and looks better compared to lithographs. Moreover, the plus point of the serigraph is that it can also be printed on fabric, which gives it a unique and different dimension. Therefore, serigraphs tend to feature more texture and color density than lithographs because of the manner and process of making them. Conversely, due to its affordability, lithography is widely available.
Furthermore, there are offset and hand lithographs; the difference is in quality and price points. The better lithographs are offset due to their high quality, but hand lithographs could also be valuable if the artist becomes more involved in their production.
For those giclee lovers, Miguel Camarena, a famous Arizonian artist, offers the best quality prints at an affordable price. The prints are beautiful, high-quality reproductions of the artist's original art. The hand embellishment option is available in all prints if you want customization. So select the right art now and check out the entire Miguel Camarena art gallery collection.
In summary, the main difference between the lithograph vs serigraph is the method, material used, cost, and quality. Lithographs are drawn on stone using grease or oil, chemically treated, and then canvas is pressed on stone for printing. In serigraphy, different screen stencils are created for each shade of color. The painting is then directly poured on a screen and spread through a tool. However, lithography is more affordable and accessible than serigraphy, which offers premium artwork. Serigraphy produces bold, flat colors, while lithography allows a wide range of colors and textures to make it suitable.
Are lithographs more valuable?
These lithographs are typically valued more because of their quality than others.
Which artwork is more affordable and easily accessible?
Lithography is more affordable and easily accessible than serigraphs.
Which artwork provides high quality?
Serigraph is the best option in terms of quality, as it provides high-quality artwork. However, the preference for serigraphy or lithography depends on individual preference and project requirements.
]]>Our guide covers everything from the initial steps of brainstorming and planning to the practical execution of your decorating goals. With this guide, you can confidently and easily navigate each stage of the interior decorating process.
So, let's start on this exciting journey.
Before starting:
The House and Garden Facebook page is also a great source of inspiration. Create a board or folder to save your favorite images and organize them by room or theme names. You can also visit showrooms and home stores near your area.
Furthermore, watch many HGTV remodeling shows and interior designer YouTube videos. Another crazy way is to play home decorating games such as Sims and Home Design to understand color combinations and item size adjustments.
Your home reflects your personality and tastes. Therefore, selecting a specific style allows you to express yourself. The style is also important for the coherence of the room's different areas. It gives your space a professional touch when all rooms are synchronized. Perform a good search when selecting the style. Scroll through social media, especially Pinterest, for idea generation.
There are various interior design styles, such as modern, traditional, contemporary, Scandinavian, rustic, minimalist, farmhouse style, etc. Take some time to think about which decor style is more connected to you.
Selecting a color theme for home decor is crucial to creating a cohesive and harmonious living space. You can start by considering your personal preferences. Think of what colors you like most. Are they vibrant or light? Choose two to three basic colors and search on the internet for their combinations.
Finally, select the combo that you like the most. Colors significantly impact your mood, so choosing cozy and light colors for your bedroom and living room is the best idea. Whereas vibrant colors can be selected for the passage, the kitchen, etc.
Each house space should define the function you want it to perform. For instance, do you want to use your bedroom for relaxation, or will it designate a workspace? The same goes with the living room. Will it be utilized for watching TV, or do you intend to include a kids playing zone beside the TV station? This helps you plan the furniture and accessories that will fit the specific space according to its size.
To fix the puzzle, you must carefully look at each space, corner, and wall and imagine which furniture, paintings, and accessories will fit each corner. Sometimes it’s best to take a deep breath, stare at your room, and start visualizing.
Planning will tell you whether you want to decorate the entire space or need some places to change. Look for fixtures you don't have the budget to change, such as cabinets, molding, doors, windows, and millwork. Also, consider painting them to give them a fresh look. Furthermore, make a separate written plan for each room.
Here comes the most important part. A budget is something that can be a hindrance to executing your chosen style and theme. But not to worry; if you have budget constraints, you can go thrifting, buy second-hand furniture on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, and do DIY projects. Various home decor YouTube channels also teach you awesome, easy DIY ideas.
While allocating your budget, mark big items as priority, such as furniture, decorating plants, wall art, paint, etc. For small items, either visit thrift stores or go with DIY decor. DIY ideas on social media are enough to blow your mind and open new doors for modern interior decorating resources.
Decide which rooms are the most important for you and your family. Identify the most-used room. We recommend starting with the bedroom, living room, and kitchen. After that, focus on other spaces like a hallway, study room, kids room, etc.
Whether starting from scratch or considering renovating an existing home, cleaning is the most important part before starting. If your home is new, start cleaning walls, washing the floor, and dusting off cabinets and fixtures. This will help you get a clear visualization of the decor setting. When redecorating an existing house, make sure to minimize things as much as you can. Remove old furniture, decor, books, and other accessories.
This phase gives you excitement, motivation, and energy. Gathering all furniture, fixtures, and accessories is not a piece of cake, and it takes time to gather them. Try to scroll through social media first; Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook do wonders. If your budget is low, try adding yourself to the Facebook communities created for thrifting.
Visit your nearby interior decoration stores. Do some research and shop around. Don't limit yourself to one store. Prefer quality over quantity, and check for functionality as well. Since your plan and budget are already set, it has made this phase more organized and quick. Don’t rush in your shopping and buy things gradually as they click you.
Walls serve as the backdrop for all other decor elements in a room. By painting them, you help to adjust the rest of your decor in a room setting. Therefore, if painting is included in your plan, the first and foremost task is to paint the walls, doors, grills, cabinets, and shelves. Try to keep the wall color natural or a light shade.
A Pro Tip: There are apps on the App Store where you can upload a picture of your room and try different wall paints to see which looks best.

Pick the key items to start decorating, such as sofas, beds, dining tables, and accent chairs. Choose items that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Consider factors like comfort, size, and style.
Different textures and patterns add depth and visual appeal to your room. Mix and match wood, metal, fabric, and glass to create aesthetic interior balance. In addition to this, add patterns and primary colors to your rugs, cushions, curtains, throw pillows, and artwork. This helps to improve the ambience of the room.
Incorporating accessories like plants, art prints, mirrors, lighting, huge rugs and throw blankets, and decorative pillows amazingly enhances the aesthetic of your space. Accessories add personality and style and help tie the room together. Using large-sized artwork and plants will do wonders for your decor. In addition, using a large rug and centering the sofa, table, and chairs on it will create an improved sense of cohesion and visual balance, making the room feel more spacious and inviting.
When you choose everything yourself, the interior ultimately resonates with your personality. However, displaying personal mementos, family photos, and cherished belongings gives the space a more personal touch. Try to create vignettes and focal points that tell a story and evoke emotions, ultimately becoming conversation starters.
Decorating a house is a process that takes time and patience. Don't feel pressured to complete everything at once. Take your time to make thoughtful decisions. Experiment with different ideas, and enjoy the journey of creating a home that reflects your unique style and personality. Never be afraid of mistakes; rethink the ideas and replace them if something doesn't look attractive after implication.
A few accessories give a space a luxurious and classy look. Wall art is one of them. Carefully chosen artwork immediately changes the look and feel of your place. For a large wall, choose huge desert landscape art, and for small spaces, you can go with miniature donkey art prints. It’s up to your budget to go with paintings or prints. Original paintings are expensive, but Giclee prints can meet everyone's affordability.
It's completely normal to feel stuck or overwhelmed when decorating a home. Keep the following golden advice in mind.
Start your decoration journey by following two phases. One is brainstorming ideas and inspiration. This includes generating ideas from websites and social media and visiting a physical home decor store. After that, decide the style you want your home to reflect and choose the colour scheme. Followed by making a detailed plan on the budget and functionality of each space and decor item.
Now comes the second phase, where you execute your planning. This includes cleaning your space, shopping for decor, wall painting, incorporating different texture layers, mixing, and creating a personal touch. Finally, take time to get things done, be patient, and follow the process.
]]>Luckily, many other options are available to hang paintings on the wall without nails. From using adhesive material to utilizing your existing racks,we have proposed many solutions that will ease your interior decoration goals. All these methods are affordable and easy.
They are designed to hang lightweight items on walls without the need for nails, screws, or drilling. These hooks are generally made of plastic or metal and backed with an adhesive surface that sticks to the wall. Here is how to use them:
Remember, these hooks are not meant to lift heavy weights or large wall art. See the packet for the recommended wait, and then use it accordingly.
This is our favorite method of hanging paintings. Command stripes are a lifesaver when you are looking to carry a bit of weight. They are available in various sizes and holding capacities. Use it as per your frame weight requirements. With these strips, you can increase the weight capacity much more compared to adhesive wall hooks. Here is the method to use command stripes.
These strips are the alternative to command stripes. They work the same way. There are two types of Velcro strips available: adhesive and non-adhesive. You can use the adhesive one and repeat the same process mentioned above to hang your wall art.
Double-sided tape also serves the purpose of hanging the paintings. But it cannot hold the frames quite well. This option is helpful when you want to hang an unframed canvas. Hanging the frame with this tape can come off, and there are always chances of paint stripping off.
This self-adhesive wall series of wall hooks is perfect when you want to hang multiple wall art pieces in a single line. Originally designed for coats, bags, and caps, these hooks offer a clever solution for displaying wall art. Especially when you want a gallery-style display, the umbra ensures neat and clear organization.
They are specifically designed for hanging canvases. You cannot hang the frame through these hangers, but canvas. Canvas hangers work well with a variety of wall textures, such as painted walls, metal, painted concrete, laminate, finished wood, tiles, and any smooth surfaces. A single hook can hold up to 3 lbs.
For rolled art, wooden hangers are the ideal solution. They not only save on the expense of framing painting but also look chic on the wall, giving your canvas a framed art appeal. However, they do require installation on the wall. To accomplish this, you can use adhesive hooks to securely and conveniently hang the wooden hangers and display your artwork with ease. These hangers are lighter in weight than the framed art.
When the purpose is to decorate several pieces of art with minimum nailing, then installing a picture rail hanging is something you should go for. You can hang as many artworks as you want, along with different decorative items. With a rail running along the top of the wall, you can easily adjust the height of your artwork without putting new holes in the wall.
Cork rolls are flexible sheets made from cork. Cork is a natural material derived from the bark of cork oak trees. This sheet comes with adhesive, which you can stick to the wall. You can then hang multiple pieces of artwork of your choice. It gives your wall a unique texture with a natural and warm background.
The simple and smartest way is to stick your art directly to the wall. We know it doesn’t look appealing, but there is a smart way to make it look versatile. The method involves using decorative tape to create a visually interesting display.
If using adhesive materials is not to your liking, there are various alternative options to decorate and display your artwork. Here are some other interesting methods to showcase your art.
It smoothly merges with the ceiling, making it challenging to locate as it can be misunderstood as part of the ceiling itself. The primary purpose of this rail is to provide a hanging system for artwork and other decorative items. The molding allows for easy rearrangement of art without putting holes directly into the wall. Picture rail molding is often used in the creation of gallery walls. Further, molding hooks are used to chain the artwork.
If you have a bookshelf that looks boring, then you can transform it into an aesthetically pleasing space while keeping it functional as well as decorative. Take some time to remove unused books and make space for your frames. This simple adjustment can turn a plain space into a modern-looking area.
If you have an empty top surface, consider leaning your art on it. This can apply to furniture like a dresser, console, TV rack, side tables, etc. Find the right spot and arrange your decor in an organized manner, with wall art leaning against the wall. This approach allows for the display of small to large wall art pieces.
Easel is a portable and modern style of displaying your art. Today, many lightweight, movable, and adjustable easels are available on the market. You can fit the light-to-heavy frame art on an easel and display it wherever you want in your home.
There is no better way for tall canvases to be placed on the floor. Adhesive hooks, strips, and other options do not support hanging large wall art. There is only one way to hang them, which is to stand the painting against the wall. This type of setting also blends smoothly with the rest of your decor.
Although this option is not entirely nail-free, it can minimize the use of nails. Firstly, you have to mount the pegboard first on the wall with a few screws. Then you can place your art wherever you like. This board requires the use of pegboard hangers to hang your decor.
Magnetic paint is ideal for walls where lightweight art needs to be hung. However, it may not support heavy magnets. Instead, small refrigerator magnets can be used to secure your art on the wall. The paint is typically available in charcoal color.
Using clothespins and paper clips to hang paintings is a creative and budget-friendly solution. For your miniature art hanging, you can opt for this solution. If you're hanging multiple paintings using this method, it can contribute to a quirky and unconventional gallery wall. Use adhesive hooks to hold the string from both sides.
Grid stands typically have a grid of evenly spaced bars. Many grid stands come with adjustable hooks or clips. This allows you to hang a variety of paintings in various styles. The clean lines and geometric design of a grid stand add a modern and contemporary aesthetic.
Ladders look exceptionally good when styled and arranged thoughtfully. They are trending and can give your space a modern or traditional look. Set art on your ladder aesthetically and feel the magic it creates.
The paintings look classic, but they are heavy for pockets. Is there a clear way to get all that exclusive art at an affordable price? Yes, we are talking about high-quality giclee prints. These prints are created with the latest technology, giving you the same art with brushstrokes and texture. These prints look so real that no one can differentiate them from the original art. Here at Miguel Camarena, we have exclusive limited edition art prints directly from the artist with a real signature. So don’t wait. Let’s explore our latest collection.
Hanging paintings without nails is not difficult; however, the method you choose depends on the size and weight of the artwork. For small and light painting frames, you can go with adhesive hooks, velcro strips, command stripes, double tape, and canvas hangers. If you have large or heavy paintings, then you should go with an easel, rail molding, utilizing dressers and shelves to lean art, using ladder shelves, and even keeping the large paintings on the floor.
]]>Artwork insurance is a type of insurance designed to protect valuable artwork and paintings. The insurance protects against potential damage, loss, theft, or destruction. The insurance policy provides art collection financial compensation to the owner in case of covered perils.
So without delay, let’s discuss how to protect your art.
To understand why art insurance is important, considering what happens if you don’t opt for insurance is equally necessary. Whether you have collected art for an investment purpose or it holds sentimental or emotional value, your assets' potential damage or loss could pose a significant financial threat to your overall net worth. Insurance provides financial protection against loss, damage, or theft. Without insurance, replacing or repairing valuable artwork could be expensive.
Fine art insurance includes the following art pieces:
Artwork is often expensive. They must be insured, like other household items such as a car and a house. If you have decided to get your artwork insured, follow these steps to get the process started.
There are two options: either you bought or inherited the artwork. If you have bought it yourself, you must know the value of art. But if it is inherited or gifted, you should evaluate the artwork for its current market value. You can visit an art appraiser or contact the auction company for a value estimation. Click here for a complete guide on how to value your artwork.
Search for the insurance companies that provide specialized insurance for your artwork. Some homeowner's and renters' insurance policies offer coverage for artwork. But this coverage is for a limited amount and type of loss. Therefore, first, identify reputable art insurance companies in your area and schedule one-on-one meetings to understand their policies.
Research the company's credibility and then ask for a quote. Today, almost all companies are online and can email you the quotation with the information you provided. Collect quotations from a few companies, shortlist them, and then schedule your interview with an agent. Provide them with detailed information about your collection. Include the total value and your specific requirements in your query.
After receiving the quote, compare them regarding coverage options, limits, deductions and exclusions, and any benefits the company offers. Also, keep the institute's reputation and the quality of its customer service in mind because, ultimately, they matter. Once reviewed, select the policy that fits your requirements and budget.
Take your time with your insurance option, and spare a good amount of time to study their terms and conditions carefully to avoid future conflicts. You can learn more about what is and is not covered by insurance by reading the policy. Pay close attention to exclusions, deductibles, coverage limits, and any requirements for maintaining the artwork's condition.
With the help of an agent, fulfill all the documentation requirements. This includes filling out forms, appraisals, art descriptions, documents, purchase receipts, certificates of authenticity, provenance records, photographs, etc.
The insurance company will take some time to review your application and documentation. They will assess the risk associated with your artwork. They can further evaluate your collection’s value, condition, and the security measures you have implemented. After your application is routed through different departments and approved, the agent will inform you about the final decision. You must be patient, as the insurance applications take some time to approve.
Once your application is approved, you will receive the policy documents. This will include your insurance details, coverage, and terms and conditions. Carefully review the insurance documents before signing. Check if the documents reflect the coverage you agreed upon.
After signing the agreement, you must pay for the premium. Keep records of your premium payments for future reference.
Check the market value of your art from time to time, preferably annually. In certain cases, the market value changes significantly, so keep yourself updated on the worth of art. This will help you determine whether the insurance coverage remains adequate.
For art insurance, maintaining the documentation is mandatory. Documents include artworks, photographs, appraisals, purchase agreements or receipts, provenance, insurance policies, premium receipts, and other related documents. These documents will be helpful in the event of a claim. Document each piece of art in your collection. This includes description, dimensions, artist (if known), acquisition date, purchase price, and current estimated value.
Homeowners', condos, or renters' insurance policies generally cover personal property. This insurance includes coverage for artwork up to a certain limit. However, these policies have the option of sub-limits for high-value items like artwork. This coverage may also not fully cover the replacement cost. So, scheduling individual artwork or adding a rider can provide additional coverage to protect the artwork's full value.
When insuring multiple artworks or high-value items, scheduling each piece individually or as a collection is common. This ensures that each item is specifically covered, and their value is accounted for in the insurance policy. Therefore, an insurance rider, an endorsement, or floater can add coverage to an existing insurance policy for specific items besides the base policy.
There is no fixed fee for artwork insurance, but it is not costly either. For example, for $20,000 worth of painting, the premium cost could be $200 to $400. The cost is usually charged annually. This small cost can secure your exquisite art's value against unexpected loss and damage. For an exact estimation, only an insurance company can provide you with a quote.
The following are the common losses and damages that artwork insurance may include. However, this may vary from company to company, which you should be aware of during policy acquisition.
Once you have received an insurance policy, you must generally pay the premium annually. However, the tenure can vary based on availability and your selection. The insurance tenure also varies depending on insurer policies and your chosen choice. Usually, it is for one year and is renewed every year.
In case of any mishap, the owner informs the insurance company on priority to initiate the claim process. The owner then submits a claim to the insurance company along with the documents, including appraisals, purchase receipts, photographs, and other relevant information.
Upon receiving the claim, the insurance company assigns an adjuster to evaluate it. The adjuster then assesses the extent of the loss. This investigation can require more documentation or information as needed.
Once the claim is approved, the insurance company reimburses the owner for the covered damages. The insurance company minutely considers the policy's coverage limits, including any deduction as per policy. Usually, the value of the artwork described in the policy determines the final settlement amount.
Art insurance is important for collectors, owners, and exhibitors. It provides your assessed protection from loss and damages. The process includes carefully approaching reputable fine art insurance companies and comparing them to find the better option customized to your requirements. Furthermore, document every art description, including certificate of authenticity, receipts, etc. Apply for the insurance; the premium payment must be made annually once approved. In case of damage, the amount can be claimed as per the terms and conditions of the policy you agreed upon.

Whether you are an art collector, artist, or art gallery, a proactive approach is required to preserve your assets. This art could be without a frame, framed, printed, or an original painting. We will cover it all in all aspects. So, let’s start with how to store art prints.
Avoid storing your art in frames, as it is costly and covers a lot of space. Especially if you are a professional, this is not the option you should go with. Only frame the art when you need to hang it or for an exhibition.
Art prints are easier to handle than original art. You need to store them in the boxes laid flat. So, what’s the recommended method? Don’t worry; follow the below steps.
The best method is to sandwich the prints on an acid-free foam core. This is a stable backing material made from foam without acid components. The foam core provides support and rigidity to prevent bending or warping of the art.
They act as a protective layer between the artwork and the foam core when layering multiple artworks for storage. They help prevent direct contact between the artwork and the backing material and reduce the risk of any potential surface damage. Glassine paper is the best layering material for keeping the prints separate.
These are the paper corners that you can make on your own to protect the four corners of your artwork from being damaged or folded. To do so, take a piece of paper, fold two sides from the top to make a triangular shape, and tape them to secure them. Now, set these angles on the four corners of the art prints.
These are large, horizontal storage cabinets or drawers designed for storing flat items such as paper, artwork, maps, or other large documents. Flat files are the best way to store your art while keeping it flat and protecting the corners. You can keep them in acid-free plastic sleeves to protect them from debris and dust.
In another method, you can keep a layer of glassine between the prints to protect them from harm. Buying these drawers is highly recommended if you are working professionally. There is also an option to get second-hand flat files. The best place to get them is on Craigslist, or contact a media agency if they are selling the unused ones. Additionally, these drawers help accommodate large prints.
These boxes are an affordable option when you can’t afford flat files. Buy a box and keep your print inside. You can separate them with glassine paper. This way, you can stash a few more prints the same way in a single box. Store these boxes in a mild environment. This is the most effective way when you are looking to store artwork at home.
This method is effective when your art prints are smaller in size. The portfolio is a file-sized plastic folder that keeps the pager organized and categorized. Storing art prints in this folder requires less effort, is easily accessible, and is affordable. This method is effective for students, hobbyists, or home business owners.
Place your art prints on the rag museum mounting board or acid-free cardstock. Use some tape to hinge the corners and insert an acid-free glassine or tissue (cheaper option) between each print. This way, you can store multiple layers of art prints without worrying about molding or folding.
In addition to the above, you can also use the following:
Storing painting frames is relatively straightforward. You can purchase a rack or create a DIY version to arrange all your paintings. Before storing, wrap each frame in bubble wrap or brown paper to shield the frame and glass from pollutants. Another cost-effective method is to lean the artwork against the wall while keeping it elevated from the floor. This helps protect against dust, debris, or water. A simple plastic bin or table underneath can serve this purpose.
In storing art, providing the correct environment for the artwork is essential. This includes humidity, moisture, sunlight, and weather. So you have to keep the below points in mind.
Direct sunlight is detrimental to the health of anything. Be they clothes, furniture, or art pieces. Sunlight has very high ultraviolet rays that can cause the pigments or dyes in the art prints to fade. If needed, don’t hang prints for more than two weeks.
Prints are generally produced through giclee printing techniques using papers such as fine art paper. Although the paper and ink are of high quality, exposing them to harsh sunlight for a long time is not recommended at all. This can cause ink to become beached. There are also various other techniques for fine art prints.
The power of sunlight resistance can vary with the type of technique used. At the Miguel Camarena Art Gallery in Cave Creek, Arizona, all the giclees are printed using high-quality acrylic paint on real museum-quality canvas, not ink, and are professionally sealed; therefore, they fare better in harsher environments and weather than your average print.
When it comes to original acrylic art, it fades more quickly than art prints. Similarly, watercolor paintings are fragile when exposed to sunlight, causing the colors to vanish more rapidly.
Storing art in a dark place doesn’t mean that you have to keep it in a completely pitch-black room. Instead, it means that you should keep all the blinds and curtains down in the room where art is stored. This will help to maintain the color hues of your prints.
However, acrylic paint gets darker when kept in a dark place for a long time. So, make sure to adjust the light accordingly.
When the purpose of art is purely to store it for a long time, you should avoid wet cleaning. No matter how light the method you choose to clean, it is always better to keep the moisture away from the painting. If you choose the boxes that will store your prints, they are unlikely to gather dust or grime.
If ever there is a need to clean the prints or paintings, use the soft bristle brush to dust them off. Be mindful. Don’t try to rub hard or remove the flakes. On the other hand, wet cleaning should be practiced when art is already displayed, and cleaning is a dire need.
Controlling the humidity is essential to restrain the chemical reactions in the artwork. The most common reactions include fading, yellowing, and foxing (brownish spots or stains on paper) due to atmospheric elements.
Maintaining a humidity level of 55% is considered optimal in the storage area or gallery. Therefore, it is important to install a hygrometer to maintain the atmosphere. You can also choose the option of exhaust fans. Although they are not ideal for controlling the overall humidity, they can remove stale and moisture-laden air from an enclosed space, which can help with ventilation and air circulation. Another option is to go with air blowers.
Heat is not good, as it can manifest the acid in the paper. Proper heating for storage space is always recommended, especially in the summer. Heating can cause fading, yellowing, dryness, brittleness, and warping, causing prints to curl or buckle. This is why big art exhibitors pay special attention to managing the heat control system in their premises for their art's longevity.
Storing unframed artwork without any protective layers can damage the surface due to moisture. Therefore, always layer your art with some acid-free paper between them. These papers are cheap and can save you a lot of money in the long run regarding art protection.
Art prints are a great investment in the long run, especially if you have invested in limited-edition prints. Here at Miguel Camarena Art Gallery, you will find an exclusive art collection that is hard to locate anywhere else. The art gallery is heaven for art collectors, providing affordable and premium quality prints. Start building your art collection with us today.
Overall, storing art prints can be as simple as making them and as complex if you don't have the proper knowledge. Various art storage methods include cabinets, flat files, art portfolios, or solander boxes. While doing so, make sure to keep the glassine paper or acid-free tissue in between the prints. While handling, use gloves to avoid stains. In addition, try to protect your art from sunlight, heat, humidity, and pollution.
What is the best way to protect art prints?
There are various methods to protect art prints, such as using flat files, collector boxes, glassine paper, acid-free plastic sleeves, a portfolio folder, etc.
How do you store printmaking prints?
Professional printmakers have these giant flat files or racks to store prints. They use acid-free paper to separate the prints and protect them from ink deterioration. This way, the prints are straight and flat, while quality remains fine and secured from dust, oil, debris, and pollution.
How do you store large prints?
There are several types and designs of art storage racks, including flat files. These storage units are available for purchase or built by developers on order, keeping the need for storage in mind.
]]>Here, we will discuss acrylic and gouache in detail to determine which works best. Despite both being water-based paints and opaque, why do people prefer any of these? Let’s debate and begin to explore acrylic vs. gouache.
Gouache, pronounced Gwash as a whole, is a fantastic medium and definitely worth considering. It provides you with a unique texture that is rare with other paints. It has become popular among animators and designers. It has two elements.
It consists of pigment particles suspended in a water-based binder. The pigments in gouache are similar to those used in watercolor but are often in larger quantities and more opaque.
The binder in gouache is typically a mixture of gum Arabic (similar to watercolor) and an additional white pigment (such as chalk) that gives gouache its opaque quality.
Acrylic is waterproof. So, when dry, you cannot activate the color with a wet brush. Gouache, on the other hand, gets activated when a wet brush is applied. It can be activated and reactivated multiple times. From a painting process point of view, this permanence makes your life a bit easier. You don’t have to worry about reactivating paint because you want more layers on the top.
Be mindful that when you are layering, you must be careful not to disturb the paint underneath. Otherwise, the top layer can be contaminated and potentially become muddy. So don’t scrub the paint too hard to avoid mixing colors. Also, when layering on top, make sure to use ticker paint.
When it comes to which color has solid, opaque characteristics, gouache is more opaque. The opacity of gouache is a result of its unique formulation and pigmentation. For example, take a piece of paper and draw a straight line with a permanent broad marker. By using brush paint on this line, you will see that only one quote of gouache will cover the line completely, and you can’t see through. At the same time, you need two to three layers of acrylic to cover the line.
Due to its opacity, gouache can block out the underlying colors, making it suitable for achieving solid and opaque coverage. This eases the process of painting for the artists. In addition to this, since the paint is water-soluble, you can achieve different opacities by using only a little bit of water to keep the shade more opaque and dark or by watering it down to make it more transparent.
Because the paint is opaque, it can smooth the process of painting when you want to use a dark color on a light and a light shade on a dark. These colors are adjustable with any shade underneath. But be careful not to scrub it too hard to avoid mixing both colors. So it is much easier to repaint areas multiple times. You can color paper of any shade without any problem.
With an artist's quality gouache, the painting dries very flat and evenly, giving it a matte appearance. It is even more flat and smooth when you scan your art on the computer. It looks like digital art. This is the primary reason that you should go with a gouache.
Whereas acrylic has a little glossy shine after drying, you will see more brush marks on acrylic paintings. It doesn’t give as smooth a surface as gouache.
With traditional gouache, you can find budget-friendly brands offering student-quality paints with a lower pigment concentration. Conversely, premium, high-end, artist-quality brands also feature a rich and intense pigment load.
A set of simple, student-quality 12-ml tubes can cost around $12 to $15. So overall, you can find any quality at affordable prices in traditional gouache. At the same time, the designer gouache of 15 ml can cost you $50 to $60. The price varies depending on the manufacturer and the quality of the paints.
Student-quality gouache is not recommended because of the very small amount of pigment that does not provide the desired flat texture. So, if budget is an issue, the best option is to buy designer-quality paint but only basic 3 to 4 tubes with white and black paint instead of a whole set.
Gouache dries very quickly. This is helpful when you are in a hurry to complete your artwork. Upon drying, dark colors become light, and light colors become dark.
From one perspective, quick drying is a pro, as it saves time when you have to finish the project in less time. But it can also be a con because quick drying makes it difficult for the artist to blend the painting properly.
Reactivation can cause two problems. On one side, it can make the color muddy when blended more, so a good technique and expertise are needed to apply it over painted layers. On the other hand, reactivation could also spoil a painting if water accidentally spills over it. So, varnishing the painting is compulsory.
Gouache tends to dry slightly darker than when it is wet. This color shift can be important to consider when mixing and matching colors.
When applied in a thick layer (impasto technique), gouache paint develops small fissures or cracks on paper surfaces.
Some paint brands can give you a chalky feel when applied in thick layers. This issue is common in gouache paints. Sometimes, this chalkiness can give unsatisfactory results.
High-quality gouache paints are pricier than acrylic paints.
Since they can be reactivated with water, scrubbing the paintings with a wet cloth for cleaning is not recommended. These paintings can not be deep cleaned. However, you can dust it off with a bristle brush. Keep in mind that even with cleaning, you cannot expect an old painting to look as fresh as a new one.
Acrylic paint has two major elements in it. One is pigment, and the other is an acrylic polymer binder. They are combined to make the color waterproof and durable. Acrylics are more durable than gouache and can withstand hard wear and tear.
Acrylic paint is known for its durability. They are more durable than gouaches. Once dried and cured, they form a tough, flexible, resilient surface without cracking or flaking. Acrylics are water-resistant, bear light well, and are easily cleaned from dust. But they should not be exposed to harsh weather conditions. The life of an acrylic painting is longer than that of other types. Varnishing it over increases its durability even more.
Acrylic paintings are good when layering thick brushstrokes to create textures. You can use them with water or apply them directly out of the tube. Acrylics can be manipulated to achieve different effects. This includes thick impasto textures, smooth washes, or a layered texture appearance.
Acrylic paint can be used on various surfaces, such as canvas, fabric, wood, paper, etc. Compared to gouache, acrylic paints have a much wider range of uses. On the other hand, gouache can be applied to watercolor paper, illustration, matte board, mixed media, and gouache paper.
Acrylic dries faster than gouache. It gives you less time to finish your painting. But this is extremely helpful to make you efficient and productive with your painting process. Because you can’t linger on your painting and must complete it before it dries. Since the paint is not reactivated, completing it all at once is mandatory.
Acrylic paints are more affordable than oil and gouache paints. They come in various vibrant shades and colors. This is the reason that they are the most popular choice among beginners as well as professionals. Overall, they are budget-friendly for everyone, whether you are a student or a professional artist.
Acrylic paint is highly flexible and can be mixed and used with other materials such as sand, cornstarch, etc. They can be applied to any surface with multiple layering techniques without the fear of cracking. In addition to this, since they are thick, you can use them with any tool, such as a brush, knife, etc.
Once the paint is on the plate and has dried, you cannot reactivate it with water, as it dries quickly and becomes useless. But this loss is manageable if you use the stay-wet palette tray for your acrylic. Otherwise, you will squeeze too much paint every time.
Since the paint dries quickly, it gives you little time to blend the shades. So, you need to be skilled at utilizing the time before drying to blend it well.
After using the brushes, palette, and knife, they should be washed off quickly because, after the paint dries, it becomes hard to clean the tools. Also, wipe off the surrounding stains quickly, as they could become permanent after drying.
This product is relatively new on the market, and it’s a hybrid of acrylic and gouache. This combination gives you the best of both paints, which are the flat and matte texture of gouache and the permanence of acrylic. It is waterproof, the same as acrylic. So you don’t have to worry about the disturbance of the paint underneath. But you still have a distinctive appearance.
The truth is, acrylic gouache is not gouache. It’s just acrylic in disguise. Many brands sell the paint with the name of acrylic gouache, but when they dry, they look very similar to acrylics. They have a slight gloss to them, and the brush marks also show up.
Our recommendation would be ‘Turner’. They are from Japan, and they are available at mid-range prices. This brand has a very good reputation; you get a flat and even matte texture when they dry. Also, they dry waterproof, which means with this paint, you need to use a stay-wet palette because your color will dry out, and you will end up wasting more.
Choosing which color to use entirely depends on your choice and the nature of your work. Those who like a bit of a glossing look should go with acrylic, and for a matte finish, go with gouache. Similarly, if your work requires texturing, then acrylic is the best choice. Regarding affordability, acrylic paint is easily and affordably available to newbies at any level. So think of your needs before you make the final choice. You can also physically visit art galleries to see the final look of each painting.
All in all, gouache is made up of gum Arabic, whereas acrylic is formed with acrylic polymer. The main difference is that acrylic gives a glossy look to the painting, whereas gouache becomes matte, smooth, and flat when dry. Acrylic is more affordable than gouache paint. Acrylic is durable and flexible and can be applied to several surfaces. They are tactile and can be used to create different types of textures. Gouache, on the other hand, can be reactivated after drying and can be reworked. Acrylic cannot be reactivated.
Can I mix gouache and acrylic?
Yes, you can mix gouache and acrylic paints. But keep in mind that combining them can result in some changes to the final look and appearance of the paint. Therefore, it is advised to mix the paint in small quantities first and check the result while painting on a spare surface.
Do professionals use gouache?
Gouache has a long history of being used by illustrators for cartoon depictions because of its flat look, similar to the appearance of digital art. It creates perfect 2D effects. However, when it comes to artists, most prefer using oil or acrylic paints.
Is acrylic better than gouache?
Yes, acrylic proves better than gouache in terms of durability, textures, flexibility, and price. However, gouache has a competitive edge when painting requires the reactivation of paint.
]]>Art is an еtеrnal and universal language that conveys our emotions through colors and spеaks in a way that words cannot. Whether you are an artist or an art enthusiast, clearly defining artwork can increase your understanding and appreciation of it. For describing paintings, descriptive language is required to communicate the visual elements, details, styles, techniques, and narrative behind the artwork.
We have provided a step-by-step guide to assist you in understanding what details require more attention and what to talk about throughout your next visit to the art gallery.
As you know, lines, shapes, color, texture, and medium are visual elements. When explaining these components, you should think straight or curvеd, round or squarе, rеd or orangе, striped or polka dot, and oil or watercolor. However, you use much more descriptive adjectives to understand these elements. Every message and emotion plays a meaningful role that the artist conveys through their paintings. How do you think someone feels when viewing your artwork, based on the shapes, colors, lines, medium, and texture?
When describing the artwork, it is important to focus on the theme and subject. The subject refers to the main topic of the painting, while the theme is the basic message, notion, or idea conveyed by the artist through his piece of art.
You need to remember these five key elements when describing the theme and subject.
Paying close attention to an artwork's visual components is the first step in describing its subject and theme. Check out the colors, shapes, lines, tone, lighting, style, media, size, pose and viewpoint, texture, and forms used by an Artist. They provide clues about what or who is depicted in the piece of art.
Understanding an artwork's historical and cultural background can also help you better understand its topic and themes. For instance, a painting may reflect particular social issues or values if it was produced during a particular period or movement.
A lot of artists use symbolism in their pieces of art to deliver a message. Symbols can be abstract ideas or feelings that add to an artwork's theme or subject matter. To uncover deeper meaning within the piece's content, keep an eye out for everlasting symbols or objects.
After expressing your emotions through the image, you can now speak more clearly about the selected piece of art. Describe its composition and which is the best place to start. In layman’s words, you have to express what is shown on the canvas. These are some usual expressions to explain art composition.
Let us take a look at the Mona Lisa, for instance (you have probably seen this one before). In this famous painting, what do you see? There is an attractive lady in the foreground. She has black hair and is wearing a black dress. The beautiful scenery in the background consists of a river, mountains, and a road.
Through the composition of the painting, you can speak more broadly. Describe the main shapes in the image: the foreground and background, the central and distant objects, etc. The greatest guide for this stage is to tell everyone about anything you see, even the tiny details.
Painting has the potential to arouse feelings in those who view it. When you discuss a certain piece of art at the gallery, express your emotions about it. After looking at this painting, what do you feel—happy or sad? And why does it provide you with such a mood—because of the composition and colors?
Does the artwork fit a specific style? There are different art styles in history, and these styles can produce an unforgettable impression. Rеalism, impressionism, abstraction, cubism, expressionism, surrealism, modernism, and pop art are considered art styles. Each style has a unique meaning in art.
Additionally, the method or process used by artists when creating artwork refers to technique. It has a wonderful impact on the deeper meaning of artwork.
Paints or tools, such as brushes or sculpting instruments, are included in the techniques.
You will likely believe that artwork can only be described in museums or art classes. However, that is untrue.
Here are some points to remember:
Dеscribing artwork is quite challenging but еntеrtaining as wеll. When you describe a piece of art, the first benefit is that it improves your speaking skills, expands your vocabulary, and helps you learn how to build sentences and how to use them in communication and writing.
Starting with your emotions is one of the best ways to describe art. You will also learn how to listen to yourself in different contexts, and you can identify how a painting makes you feel.
You are already aware that accurately describing an artwork requires knowing more about the artist and the background history of the piece of art. It will enable you to broaden your horizons on a variety of subjects, making you a more engaging conversation partner.

What 5 Things Do We Need to Obsеrvе When We Describe an Artwork?
According to the modern point of view on art, a painting is made up of five vital components: color, line, shape, texture, and medium.
]]>If you are searching for another art piece for your home or investment purposes and wish to verify the authenticity of the artwork, then this article is for you. We are here to guide you through this journey. Let us take you through every difference and unique characteristic between print and painting, and we guarantee that it will help you make an informed decision about your artistic preferences.
Prints are basically replicas or reproductions of original artwork. These prints are created by using various printing methods. Producing several copies of an original artwork is called Giclee Prints. It lacks the original oil or watercolor painting, paint colors, signature, and brushwork of an artist. Additionally, the colors they use are printer ink.
Nevertheless, some prints have qualities that capture the uniqueness and feel of original paintings. This can be done by stretching the canvas to add texture as a result of stretching. It not only makes them valuable, but it also appeals to art collectors.
On the flip side, paintings are one-of-a-kind works of art that are originally hand-made by an artist on Canvas, cloth, metal plate, wooden block, stone block, etc. Unlike print, where various copies can be created from a single matrix, paintings are generally exceptional pieces that are genuinely hand-made.
Let’s come to the main point now. Here are some nitty-gritty details to differentiate between original artwork and prints.
Both the Giclee and original paintings have brushstrokes on them. They both have a texture that makes them feel like original art. The only way you can distinguish the original is by positioning the canvas facing the light. Prints have a uniform texture, with all brushstrokes and texture moving in the same direction. In contrast, original paintings show misaligned, random brushstrokes. The texture varies in inconsistent ways as artists create it.
In prints, whether made by hand or by printers, the edges of the canvas will be even, forming a straight line. In other words, you will observe aligned marks from ink application or a slight seepage of ink spreading. In contrast, when an artist creates a painting, they do so freely, which may result in the canvas edges not being perfectly in line.
In the original artwork, some of the pencil work can still be seen easily, mostly at the edges of the painting, because usually the artist draws the painting with a pencil before creating it. It indicates that the painting is original. On prints, there will be no market for pencils or drawings.
If the painting is original, you will receive a certificate of its authenticity, either provided by the gallery or the artist upon request. Additionally, further information about the painting, such as the date of creation, edition number, and artist's name, can often be found on the back of the canvas.
When an artist creates an original piece, they typically sign it. On an original painting, the signature is manually done by the artist. In the case of prints, these signatures are reproduced on the canvas during the printing process. Additionally, artists may sign prints, but this is usually done when they are selling copies of their original paintings. For instance, Miguel Camarena signs his prints on canvas, which increases the value of the print.
Suppose a watercolor painting has indented paper where the paint was applied. In that case, it means that the paper surface has absorbed the watercolor, causing a slight indentation or texture in the areas where the paint has been added. This effect is a characteristic of watercolor paintings.
In simpler terms, when the watercolor pigment is applied to paper, the paper fibers absorb the paint. It creates variations in texture and potentially leaves a slightly raised or indented surface, depending on the amount of water used and the paper's absorbency.
On the other side, the print’s paper should have clean, flat surfaces with no indentation. Examining such details can provide you with good insights when judging the originality of the watercolor painting.
Some printing techniques leave small dotted patterns on the canvas. You can observe these patterns by using a magnifying glass. If the dots are visible, you can be sure that it is a print. Finding those dots on an original painting is unlikely.
There are various types of art prints available on the market. Therefore, it is important to understand each type when thinking about buying art.
These are high-quality archival Giclee prints made using expensive printers. They can reproduce artwork on paper or canvas. You can check out captivating prints here.
This technique dates back to the 15th century and is considered one of the oldest techniques in printmaking. It involves breaking down a design into a block of wood or linoleum, then inking the raised surface before pressing it onto paper. When inked portions shift onto the paper, the cut areas remain white or uncolored.
In this technique, acid or sharp tools are used to print a design onto a metal plate. The plate is then inked and sponged clean, leaving ink only in the scratched lines. The plate is put on a printing press with moistened paper on top and pressed under high pressure to transmit the ink onto the paper.
Alois Senefelder invented lithography in 1796. The image is painted on metal plates or limestone by using an oil-based medium like crayon or grease pencil, which refers to lithography. The stone is then handled with chemicals that make it waterproof, except for where it was drawn.
Ink is pressed through a fine mesh screen onto the printing surface. Every color needs a separate screen. It is a popular printing method that can produce large amounts of printed items at a low cost.
Art prints become valuable and worth buying when the quality of the artwork is good and it is signed by renowned artists. The value of prints is frequently established in the production process and the artist’s participation in the formation of the print.
Art prints are a great investment. They generally have a higher long-lasting value than non-tangible or invisible assets. You can remain secure in difficult times as the art market maintains economic uncertainty. This way, anytime, you can sell your art prints for profit.
At some point in your life, if you come across lithograph prints and want to determine their authenticity, you can check these points to verify whether they are genuine lithograph prints.
After looking for the above parameters, you can catch the original art and prints. However, it is always recommended to buy prints from the artist himself. Miguel Camarena is an Arizonian artist who offers prints of his original paintings. These prints are not only of high quality but also signed by the artist.
In summary, selecting between a print and a painting is a personal preference for your home. Prints are produced via modern technology. They are replicas of original paintings and offer accessibility and collectibility to every art lover. Paintings are unique artworks and are usually produced once. To identify the difference between them, look for signatures, brushstroke patterns, edges, pencil marks, and certificates of originality.
Are Prints Considered Original Art?
No, they are not; both are different types of art. No, prints are not original art; instead, they are reproductions of an original piece. The main difference is that originals are handmade and signed by an artist, whereas prints are made using printing techniques and are typically more affordable than the original art piece.
How Can You Tell If It's Print or Watercolor?
To check the difference between a print and a watercolor artwork, you can look for particular features: Paper Quality and Texture: Original watercolors are commonly painted on textured, high-quality watercolor paper. Moreover, prints are printed on smoother, flatter paper.
Why Are Art Prints So Expensive?
Art prints are expensive because of the advanced techniques, texture detailing, cost of materials, high-quality paper, frames, and inks. Additionally, some art prints are created using special techniques like giclée printing, which can add to the price as well.
]]>Commissioning art requires you to send a request to the artist with some specific details on what type of artwork you need. You can then work out and negotiate a deal with that artist, who will make artwork that you will own. There are many sources available where you can find artists to commission.
An art commission is a request for a certain type of artwork. You reach out to an artist who will make artwork for you. Whether it be your holiday family portrait or a picture of your late beloved dog that you want to place in your living room, you can make a customized request to an artist who is willing to do commissioned work.
Custom-commissioned artwork is completely based on what the client wants. There are some steps for getting commissioned custom art:
The first step when beginning to look for an artist is to visualize what you want. The main point behind the visualization is the purpose of art. Do you want to get something done as artwork in the memory of someone? Or is it for a personal or professional space?
You must visualize what type of art genre you are looking for. What colors, themes, and ideas behind the art do you want? Whether it’s a storming horse or a boy painted in black and white, you should make notes of all the elements you want in the final design.
The best way to get an idea about your art is to visit art auctions and browse online for similar paintings or pieces of art to help inspire you in your decision-making process.
Depending on the visualization, you should look for the best possible artist to do the job. This is done through online or physical research or by asking your friends and family for recommendations.
Once you find an appropriate artist, the next step is to set up the paperwork. While this isn’t necessary, it helps save you in case there’s an issue down the line. You can put terms and conditions inside the contract that both parties have agreed on. If you want some changes when the art is delivered, that should also be part of the contract. Apart from other conditions, the following details are basic to include in the contract.
Review the art for any changes. It is the point where there could be disagreements. So, you need to keep the terms of the contract in mind when asking for a review.
Payment terms and conditions are decided during the contract and are very dependent on the artist you choose to hire. Some in-demand and popular artists require full payment up front (if they decide to take your commission in the first place). Less-known artists may require only a partial deposit, typically equal to 50% of the final cost.
Not all artists accept commission art, so you should find the ones who are open to this work. However, there are places where you can go to get commissioned art. Some of these are:
A simple Google search will give you a long list of in-person art galleries and studios where you can discuss art commissioning not only with the gallery administration but also with the artists directly. A great example of this is Miguel Camarena from Arizona, who offers customized commissioned art of all types and genres. You can contact him here. Miguel Camarena has over four decades of experience working with clients. Here are some of his artwork.
Miguel not only works in Arizona but also accepts artwork commissions from other cities and countries, but for orders outside the United States, you need to contact him first. If you are in Arizona, it is best to visit the art gallery in Cave Creek.
A visit to the gallery is the best way to find an artist, as it not only provides you with an in-person interaction with the artist to deliver your idea in a more personalized way, but you can also check the quality of the artwork by looking at the portfolio in person.
Considering the high cost of the original artwork, you must be comfortable with the artist. Meeting in person with them not only enhances the trust level but also allows you to judge their dedication, honesty, and passion for art.
Similar to in-person art galleries, you can increase your scope by searching online for artists present throughout the globe. This way, you're not limited to artists or galleries in your nearby area but can target the best in the world.
The process for such art commissioning would consist of online meetings where you would discuss your ideas, and the artists would give you a timeline and a price tag. Afterward, if you accept their design and make the payment, they will ship the artwork to you.
A lot of solo artists who are not linked up with art galleries can also get the job done. If you go this route, an advantage is that you will be charged less because the gallery fee would not exist in such a case.
However, this way, you would have to make sure of the competence and credibility of the artist yourself, and if anything goes wrong, you would not have the comfort of a neutral art gallery by your side. You can, however, sign a contract with that artist on a personal level with all the clauses you want.
Here are some ways to find solo artists.
A general rule of thumb is to price by the hour or per square inch. The artists who charge by the hour can ask for a price up to $55–$200 per hour, whereas the ones who price by canvas area could charge $0.50–$4.00 per square inch. These rates are the benchmark for artists who do commissioned work on a regular basis.
However, if you’re impressed by the work of an artist and want a customized artwork made by them, they can charge you depending on their skill, experience, and reputation. For instance, a full-blown professional artist can charge you as much as $20,000 plus for a commissioned artwork.
It is not necessary; many artists work worldwide. You can do so as long as the artist is okay with freelance work and you are okay with the shipping cost. Here at the Miguel Camarena Art Gallery, we ship most paintings rolled and in a heavy-duty tube, so the shipping cost is much lower as opposed to stretched and mounted artwork. Also, it is a much safer method of transporting artwork. So, no matter if you are in Europe or Canada, we take orders from all over the world.
Commissioned artwork is a great source to get customized artwork for someone who’s not an expert artist. They can then use that artwork for their decoration or as part of their collection. Because they own that artwork, they can even sell it and ask for whatever price they want. Hence, it could also be a way to make a profit and do business using their commissioned artwork.
What are some freelance websites where you can get artists for commissioned artwork?
The most renowned freelance websites, like Fiverr, Upwork, and Etsy, are great sources for getting commissioned artwork. The top artists all around the world usually have a good presence on these websites.
How do you make your commissioned artwork contract?
The most important things for an artwork contract are payment terms and the deadline for submission. Moreover, you can also put in things such as the number of reviews to be done by the artist. If the price range, number of orders, and criticality are high, you can get the services of a professional contract maker.
What are some examples of commissioned artwork?
Throughout history, rulers have been famous for getting commissioned artwork. Among these, the most famous ones are Sandro Botticelli's Birth of Venus and Michelangelo's Tomb of Lorenzo de Medici.
]]>This blog will give you a step-by-step guide on how to stretch your canvas on a frame at home because getting professional help for it is expensive and time-consuming. Anyone can complete this process in 15 to 20 minutes if they know how to do it.
Whenever a painting is made, there are only two ways to store it. One is to roll it like a cylinder, and the other is to put it in a frame. What you do depends on where the painting has to go. If it has to be kept in your storeroom for some amount of time, you can roll it and keep it there. But if it has to be sold or placed in an art gallery, it needs to be stretched and mounted onto a frame.
Stretching a canvas is a process that’s done before or after the painting is finished. It gives the canvas the tension it needs and a firm surface for you to paint on.
Putting it in a frame is slightly different than stretching the canvas. So, no matter what, you will have to stretch the canvas at the final step for it to be placed perfectly in a frame. Nowadays, some machines can assist in stretching, but the most common way to stretch a canvas is by hand. Here are the steps you need to follow to stretch your canvas by hand:
While there isn’t a long list of materials and equipment, some very important items will help you do this process with ease. You will need a stapler, a measuring tape, and a hammer, which are the three most important items for this process.
If you don’t already have the board, you can make one using wood frames and some nails. If you’re comfortable with some other things that serve the same purpose, you can use them as well.
The word canvas here means the painted area. It should have equal borders on all sides so that no part of the painting gets folded or hidden behind the frame. The canvas will get attached and stretched onto the canvas board, and hence, the painted area should be of the same measurement as that of the canvas board.
Ready-made frames are present at any paint shop. But if you’re into DIY, making the frame isn’t as hard as it sounds. You need four wooden bars of the size you want. If they’re longer, you can cut them using a saw to the desired length.
You can cut the edges of the wooden bars at 45° so that they will fit perfectly together. Now, use epoxy to join the four wooden pieces together to make your frame, or you can use small nails. Give the epoxy on the frame some time to cool, and then you’re ready to go to the next step.
Position the painting on a rug or a clean carpet with the paint side facing down. So that it does not catch dirt. Place the wooden frame on top of it and place it in a manner so that it’s directly at the center of the painting. Now, the correct method is to staple at the center of one side of the frame first. Fold the painting onto the wood, staple it, and repeat this process for all four sides.
Be mindful that enough tension is created at the center of the frame. Also, staple only one pin to one side. If you staple one side completely, it may not be easy to undo in the event of a misalignment.
If your wooden frame is small, it's fine to move back and forth to staple the painting. However, for larger canvases, it's important to incorporate support angles inside the wooden frame. This will give a secure hold to all four sides and keep them tightly intact. Here is one image for your reference. There are multiple ways you can place the inner support bars.
Now, come back to the first side, where you stapled first, and staple again on the left and right sides of that staple, almost 1.5 inches aside. Repeat the process on all four sides, and keep doing this process until you reach the corners of the canvas.
For the corners, you need to follow a two-fold system, like when we wrap presents; at the corners, we need a folding approach for it to sit properly. This would be done, as shown in the image below, by folding to one side and then folding the other side on top of it. After this is done, you need to staple on both sides of the fold and, finally, 3–4 staples on top of the fold.
It is usually advised to stretch the canvas before painting so that there’s no chance of the paint flaking or cracking. However, it can be done afterward as well, but you need to be more careful while doing it. In any case, the main framing of the painting is done at the end, and it does require some form of stretching.
In one method of framing, the painting is first removed from the stretched canvas. The frame is placed on the painting, with the painted side facing the ground. Extra sides on all four ends of the canvas are cut. The sides are then folded and attached to the frame with some support.
Another form of framing involves simply placing the stretched painting in the frame built for its specific size and securing it with screws on the back end. This is more common with larger paintings.
Both are completely different forms of storing a canvas, and both have their pros and cons. Following are some of their differences:
Both of these systems have their pros and cons and are subject to where the painting needs to go and for what purpose it needs to be used. For presentation, stretched canvases are the clear winner. Whereas for storing, there is no better option than a rolled canvas.
How do I hang a rolled canvas?
First, the canvas would need to be stretched onto a frame. After that, the frame can then be hung onto a wall.
How much does it cost to stretch a canvas?
Stretching a canvas can cost you between $8 to $25 per linear foot, or between $50 to $250 per art piece on average. However, doing it yourself at home is an easy process and won’t cost you half as much.
Where can I get the canvas stretched?
Almost all of the professional artists servicing galleries and shops can get your canvas stretched. You can search for your nearby art frame shop on Google Maps.
]]>The two most common types of paints used in the art industry are oils and acrylics, which further offer many other kinds of variations depending on how we use them. Prints on canvas are a close third and have gained a lot of recent popularity, but they fall under a different category.
Simply put, oil paints are powdered pigments mixed with linseed oil to make a smooth paste. They are of the highest quality among the other options. Oil paints offer vibrant colors, the ability to work with layers, and well-blended textures. They take a relatively longer time to dry than acrylics.
Acrylic paints are composed of a solution of pigments and plastic or acrylic resins. They are non-toxic and dry very fast. Acrylic paints offer the flexibility to work on most types of surfaces. Acrylic paints offer stable colors but can darken up after drying.
The final products with both types of paints will be different in color brightness, durability, and optimal storage conditions that they need. Both have unique preparation and working procedures as well. Oils dry slowly, while acrylics dry fast. Acrylics give a darker hue upon drying, while oils turn slightly yellow with time. Both, however, have unique pros and cons that make them valuable.
Mixing oil and acrylic is never recommended. Acrylics have a water base, while oil paints have an oil base, and hence, the two cannot mix. Oil paint can be added over acrylic, but acrylic can’t be added on top of oil. If you try to add acrylic over oil, the acrylic will crack and flake with drying and aging.
Hence, acrylic is water-soluble while oil isn't, and they both cannot make one homogenous solution. However, both oil and acrylics can be used in a single painting. You need to make sure that oil is added over acrylic and not the other way around. The acrylic needs to dry completely before any oil is added on top.
Many decent brands offer high-quality oil paints. The most notable ones are listed below.
The following starter kit offers everything an artist needs to start their oil painting journey.
Over time, artists have used both mediums to make their artwork. However, the most popular ones are oil paintings, examples of which include:
There are many notable acrylics:
After reading this piece, oil paints are the clear winner to use for your paintings. They may be toxic, but if used properly, their toxicity will not affect us. Most of the masterpieces throughout the world are painted in oil. Acrylics, on the other hand, offer some silver linings and can be used for your painting every once in a while.
Is acrylic water-based?
Yes, acrylics are water-based, which makes them quick-drying. On the other hand, oils are not and hence require a longer drying period.
Does oil paint dry faster in the sun?
Yes, oils do dry faster in a warmer environment. The sun’s heat can catalyze the drying process, which otherwise would take longer.
Does acrylic paint wash off in the rain?
Because acrylic paints are water-resistant, they won’t get washed off in the rain. However, heavy or prolonged exposure to water can degrade and ultimately wash off the paint.
Can you use water-based acrylic paint on the skin?
Even though acrylic paint is non-toxic and safe to use on many surfaces, it can cause allergic reactions on the skin and isn’t recommended at all.
How do I make acrylic paint thicker?
A lot of things can be added in order to make the acrylic paint thicker. Things such as powdered chalk or dry pigment are great options to make acrylics thick.
How long does oil paint last?
Oil paints in tubes have a shelf life of almost 40 years. Oil paintings, if stored properly, can last for centuries or even eternity.

Abstract art takes center stage in the field of art. It has revolutionized art since its inception. People love the fact that it has no objective meaning, and different people interpret it differently. It's a great conversation starter, and it's not only limited to wall paintings. Abstract art came into being in the early 1900s and has since taken over the art industry as the most common genre of art.
Abstract art is a one-of-a-kind art form that knows no bounds. You can throw paint on a canvas and have abstract art. In simple words, abstract art is all about feelings and emotions and incorporates elements like shapes, lines, colors, and forms to communicate. Abstract art doesn't have a subject; unlike most common forms of art, it is non-objective.
Abstractionism is a philosophy that says that our mind uses previous experiences to create new ones. Abstractionism blows off all the realistic portrayals of the world. Wassily Kandinsky, known arguably as the father of modern Western art, made his first abstract in 1910. The rest is history.
Because abstract art is subjective, it has countless types and forms. We have handpicked some of the most important ones to discuss in brief detail, along with abstract art examples.
As the name suggests, geometric abstraction uses geometric shapes in an unrealistic space to portray art in a non-representational manner. Geometric abstraction is all about the visual relationship among lines, colors, and shapes.
Above is an example of geometric abstraction. This was painted by Miguel Camarena, who has taken a pro-texture approach. He has input several elements into this piece of art and has showcased shapes irregularly and roughly, which perfectly portrays what he has tried to depict.
The color field is a type of abstract art that uses the maximum real estate of a canvas. In other words, in color field painting, the canvas consists of flat colors expanded throughout the field with minimum surface detail.
In this color field, the artist has used colorful circles, which give the look of an archery board. This could mean a number of things, such as the different temporary emotions of a human or the cycle of life.
This style of abstract art consists of color combinations designed through brush strokes and drips. Abstract expressionism showcases motion in the artist's artwork through a variety of abstract styles and techniques.
This piece by Miguel Camarena is a perfect illustration of abstract expressionism. His dynamic use of colors adds a feeling of joy to an otherwise dull occasion.
Cubism in abstract art is a revolutionary technique that depicts three-dimensional geometric shapes on a two-dimensional canvas. In cubism, the objects are often broken down and harmoniously placed in an abstract form.
This piece depicts a woman who looks both happy and sad. The strong edges and coherent nature of the objects, among the other elements, make this a perfect example of cubism.
Surrealism is an abstract art form that is influenced by the human subconscious. The artist uses their mind's deepest thoughts and imagination to create an unreal and irrational depiction.
This piece explores the dual facets of human nature, reflecting on both internal and external dynamics. While it may diverge from a literal representation of reality, its simplicity serves to effectively convey a meaningful message to the viewer.
Just like the name suggests, action painting is where the artist splashes the paint onto the canvas instead of carefully applying it. A lot of hand gestures or action techniques can be used to create this effect.
Probably the most versatile amongst the other abstract forms, this piece is a perfect illustration of drip and action painting. It describes chaos or the multi-scope diversity of life.
Minimalist art is the philosophy that art shouldn't be a reflection of someone's imagination; rather, it has its reality and should be represented accordingly. In minimalism, simple shapes and objects are used with minimal color choices. It's characterized by simple geometric shapes, such as squares, rectangles, circles, and lines, as well as hard edges, blocks of color, precise lines, and limited color choices.
These pieces use the minimum possible input from the artist and make a wondrous portrayal. Both faces are made with one single swoosh of gesture, and through colorful shapes in the background, the whole image is elevated.
Surrealism and abstractionism are both forms of non-objective and non-representational art. However, they both consist of distinctive art forms and features. Abstractionism is more composed of shapes, lines, forms, and colors. Gestural abstraction and color field painting fall under the abstractionism umbrella.
On the other hand, surrealism intertwines reality with the subconscious. Surrealism art just feels like a visualization from a dream. It consists of juxtapositions and unreal elements incorporated with some real elements. Most of the time, the depiction in surrealism is far from reality and is irrational. Both of these art forms take us away from the realms of reality.
We have selected some of the best abstract art that’s ever been made.
This piece by Kandinsky is a geometric abstraction that represents cosmic harmony.
One of Mitchell’s most notable works, this painting is a type of action abstract.
Also known as The Bricks, Equivalent VIII is a minimalist sculpture.
One Floor Up More Highly is a gigantic abstract sculpture made using styrofoam.
Featuring Pablo Picasso’s mistress, Nude, Green Leaves, and Bust is an oil on canvas abstract painting.
With a sold-out original painting, Vertical Colored Pots by Miguel Camarena is also available in print-on-canvas form.
Abstract art is categorized by how the artist wants to depict their imagination. There are no limits to abstract art.
Artists use a variety of hand gestures and brushwork motions to compose abstract art. These could be applying the paint to the canvas with bare hands, using a sponge, or any other object. The artist might also use a combination of techniques to achieve the final product they want.
Just like in the more orthodox forms of painting, the artist layers paint on top of each other to create styles and effects. Unorthodox techniques such as throwing and moving fabric, sand, beads, or gravel onto the canvas can create artistic visualizations.
Like in action painting, this abstract composition technique is all about splashing, dripping, and smearing the paint onto the canvas. The painting can only be about splashes on the canvas or about splashes combined with other abstract elements.
In this composition technique, more than one art medium or material is used. It is a mixture of multiple objects intertwined together or multiple abstract art pieces artistically placed on one canvas.
A stencil is a special object used in painting that has a unique design or a cutout on top of it. A mask is a piece that’s cut out and can be used on canvas. Both of these elements are used to create artistic visualizations that, without them, would be challenging to achieve otherwise.
Sgraffito is the Italian word for scratch. In this technique, parts of the art medium are cut out or scraped, giving a different colored ground. The surface could be clay or plaster, and the scraping material could be a pottery carving tool.
Wet-on-wet means that wet paint is applied to a wet surface, and wet-on-dry means that the paint is wet and the canvas is dry. Popular in all forms and genres of painting, these are both the most basic forms of art composition
Abstract art is a genre unlike any other. It has widened the spectrum of art composition to a whole new level. Artists depict their wildest imaginations through abstractionism. Being a relatively newer genre of painting, abstract art is one of the best art additions to your space because it can communicate differently to different people.
What makes good abstract art?
A good abstract art piece would convey thoughts and emotions in a harmonious and balanced way. The artist can use simple or minimalist techniques to do that, but the important factor for good abstract art is that the message is conveyed.
Why did abstract art start?
In the latter stages of the 19th century, there was an increasing need among artists to create something different. The idea was to depict human emotions and thoughts rather than just portraying something similar to how it looks in real life.
What is the subject of abstract art?
Abstract art doesn’t have a particular subject because the artist is not trying to imitate something. Rather, their work is non-objective and plays only with shapes, forms, and colors.
What are the main elements of abstract art?
The fundamental elements of abstract art include line, shape, form, color, texture, and value. Moreover, some rules of abstract art include balance, unity, rhythm, harmony, contrast, and movement.
]]>These elements make them aesthetically appealing. Similarly, while making art, even the most abstract of pieces, artists follow guidelines and composition principles that make their final design appealing.
These eight values of art lay the foundation of any art piece.
Artistic expression showcases the artist's feelings through their work. By looking at the art, you can tell what the artist might be feeling while creating it or what emotions the artist tried to portray in their art.
Every art piece in the world depicts the artist's creativity through the art. Along with so many other factors, one can easily see the creative elements instilled in the art by the artist. This is the top value that artists care about.
How does the painting make you feel? Every artwork has an aesthetic value attached to it. This value is relative and changes for every person. Someone might find aesthetic value in an abstract piece, while someone else might deem that same piece complex.
Art is a great way to communicate. Every art piece in the world that's ever been made communicates something to the audience. Some pieces communicate the artist’s intended information, while others are dependent on how the viewer interprets that piece of work.
Art and culture go side by side, as they both have a strong connection and both affect and depend on each other. Throughout different periods in history, different types of artwork have emerged, serving as reflections of the culture of that time and conveying the intentions of the artists in portraying their messages.
Every artwork is the product of its makers’ skill and proficiency. Some artists, like Leonardo da Vinci, had unmatchable skills in making people's portraits, while others, like Pablo Picasso, took a more abstract approach to their artistry. Miguel Camarena, on the other hand, excels at portraying the cultural aspects specific to a particular region, showcasing a high level of precision in this art.
Originality is one of the most important values in any trade. No one wants a second-hand copy of something. The world doesn't need another Michelangelo.
However, the need for original creativity and intellect will never end. Original content has an element of superiority attached to it because it's a result of your uniqueness, and there's only one such piece in the whole world.
From the viewer’s point of view, critical thinking is analyzing and evaluating art in order to provide a way to improve it. Again, like communication and significance, critical thinking is subjective and opinionated.
Following are some certain design laws that every artist must consider and follow before and during their art design.
Just like the word implies, balance in art means an equal distribution of the visual elements in the final art piece. Balance makes the art feel vertically and horizontally aligned, resulting in a more stable final product.
There are two types of balance in art: symmetrical and asymmetrical balance. Symmetrical balance means that both sides of the art piece mirror each other and are equal in length and appearance. Think of a butterfly; it’s the perfect example of symmetrical art.
On the other hand, asymmetrical art means that both sides aren't mirror images of each other but still balance out. Another type is radial balance. Here, the artwork balances out on all sides of the frame, starting from the center, just like a sunflower.
In simple terms, proportion refers to the size of one object relative to another. Another word for proportion is scale. Imagine a boy sitting on a sofa. The most realistic proportion will have both the boy and the sofa in an accurate proportion to each other.
Emphasis is where the artist throws the spotlight on his artwork. It's the focal point where the artist gives all the importance. It's also the main center of attention in the art piece around which everything is arranged and depicted.
Variety means adding unexpected and diverse elements or colors to the artwork to change its monotony. It could be a sharp change in colors or other artwork elements. The variety makes the artwork dynamic.
Just like music, where a single out-of-beat rhythm can disturb the whole tune, harmony makes the artwork intact and cohesive. It creates a smooth unity among all the elements of the artwork that all combine to give a feeling of togetherness.
Similarly to harmony, unity is the fact that all elements in the artwork have one main purpose: to work toward the final mission of the artwork, i.e., to portray whatever it is to be portrayed.
Movement is a way in which the artist showcases an action or a happening inside the artwork. Because it's still that action shown midway, it's not as easy as it sounds to create a moving effect in an artwork, and it requires a lot of art proficiency to do that.
Rhythm creates flow inside the artwork through patterns and repetition. Rhythm gives the artwork a heartbeat, bringing it to life even though it's still a stationary end product.
In art, composition means putting together the various visual elements in an artwork. Composition showcases the use of elements with regard to the principles of art.
Composition is an important element in most forms of art, such as music, photography, and writing. In art, an artist conveys stories and emotions through composition within a singular arrangement. There are many types of compositions in art.
Art composition consists of the following elements that collectively work toward making an art piece.
A line in art could be a dot or a series of dots. A series of dots makes a line, which can have variable characteristics. They can be angular, curved, organic, or straight. A line can be just 2D, or if given mass and volume, it could be portrayed as 3D.
Shape in art means anything that has an outline. Shapes can either be geometric shapes (circle, square, or triangle) or organic free-form shapes. An example of a free-form shape could be the petals of a flower.
Form is the depth given to a shape. The form makes the shape look 3D. In sculptures, there is 3D form, while in paintings, there can be the appearance of form. The form can be simple/complex, organic/geometric, or abstract/figurative.
Color is what is perceived by the human eye when light strikes something. The basic color wheel consists of primary colors (red, yellow, and blue), which further form secondary and tertiary colors.
Color has characteristics such as hue, value, and saturation. Hue is the color itself, whether it’s purple, orange, or turquoise. Value is the brightness or dullness of a color. Saturation is the purity and sharpness of a color, i.e., how sharp or light it appears.
Value is an element in art where adding black or white makes the color dull or bright. Through value, an artist can input gradients into their work, which can be used for shading or highlighting. Value can also portray depth and perspective in an artwork.
Texture can either be felt through touch or sight. Using texture, an artist depicts their artwork or a portion of it as rough or smooth. Through texture, an artist can make an object look real.
For instance, a piece of wood, rock, or fabric has details that make it look real and accurate. The texture is added to things like landscapes and buildings with the skill of brushwork and layers of paint to give an excellent final product.
Space is all the surrounding area of an artwork around the focal point. The surrounding area can be positive/negative, shallow/deep, or open/closed, depending on what the artist wants to portray.
Positive space is the space consumed by the focal point, while negative space is all the remaining area. Together, they both take up all the space on a canvas.
Contrast in art is where the artist utilizes various elements to create effects such as light, shadows, color, and composition. Through contrast, an artist intensifies the various elements in their work.
The pattern is a repetitive design that uses elements like shape, line, or color. It can be used to create various artistic depictions in an artwork. Patterns can be created using geometric designs with shapes or more complex ones incorporating organic elements.
Placement in art means where the artists place different elements in their work. Placing an object of the right size in the right position in the artwork is fundamental to creating an artwork that is uniform and looks appealing to the eye.
No matter how beautifully the subject and the objects are made, if they are not of the right size and placed accurately, they will not work as efficiently. Placement in art is foundational to creating any artwork.
The subject is the main focal point in the artwork, around which everything else is drawn or depicted. A subject is the title or the main topic of a painting. Subjects could be a singular entity in one portion of the painting or distributed throughout the canvas, like in the case of landscape art.
Contrary to popular belief, art is a field that is more mathematical and logical than many. Many principles and laws need to be followed in order to create artwork that is perfect and appealing to the eye. An ideal mix of colors, shapes, and textures needs to be used to create the desired effects. A lot of research and learning should be put in before making an artwork.
]]>A beginner might wonder: Can I paint with acrylics with as much proficiency as a pro would? The answer is yes. Acrylic paints are very easy to deal with. In this piece, we have made a comprehensive step-by-step guide on how to paint with acrylics.
Acrylic paints are simply colorants added to a polymer mixture. These are popular painting materials and offer many different types of painting textures. Different acrylics look different on different canvas surfaces. The main advantages of acrylic paints are their easy accessibility and their fast drying time. Because of their volatility, they can be easily diluted with water.
There are many benefits to acrylic paints. They can be used to get different effects in your painting, whether it be translucent, transparent, or opaque/glossy. Also, whipping them off is a breeze. A solution of soap and water can easily clean acrylics painting. Acrylics work in layers, and a lot of different textures can be achieved by tweaking the layers, their color combinations, and their thickness.
Here is an example of a painting made with acrylics.
Whether it be acrylics or any other kind of painting material, the surface of the canvas is hugely important. It can make the whole painting look completely different, depending on the combination you use. Two great options for acrylic paints are stretched canvas and art canvas because they can endure multiple layers of paint with ease.
Another great option is canvas board. The beauty of acrylic paints is that they offer great results for almost all canvas types. And this is the reason why acrylics are not only used by beginners but by experts as well, because they offer so many textures and options.
The basic equipment you need to canvas an acrylic painting includes the following:
Brushes are one of the most integral parts of painting. Artists use a combination of many different types of brushes that add unique effects to the canvas. Factors like variable water and paint compositions and different brush angles can also change the game. Different brush sizes are used for different purposes.
The first and foremost thing is to make your mental picture clear about what you want to make. Whether it's a portrait of a person or a landscape, you should first visualize the end product in your mind. Following are the phases of painting with acrylics:
The first step is your color selection, which is a part of your visualization process. If you want to make a landscape, you can jot down the color combination you want in it. A technique could be to use a color palette that has all the prime colors, which can then be mixed to get many other colors.
The next step is to mix the colors that you will be using to paint. Start with background color mixing. You don’t need to prepare color shades for the whole of the painting, as they dry quickly.
Preparing the canvas involves two main steps: one, to clean the dust off of the surface, and two, to sand the canvas to smooth it out for a better painting experience and appearance (this is optional, and only some artists do this; most of the time, the artist canvas is already pre-prepared for painting).
Sanding refers to using sandpaper that will prepare the canvas surface before starting the painting. Once your canvas is ready, you can start painting. You can also set up all your equipment in an organized manner in this step, because now comes the main part.
After doing all this, now is the time to paint. You should follow what's comfortable for you instead of going by the book. Many people start a painting by sketching with a pencil. This way, they can perfect their design before the actual painting and make any changes if required.
Now, after mixing up your acrylics on a palette or canvas, start painting the background first. Using a big brush, apply the paint to the surface. You can perform long and broad strokes horizontally to cover up the blank canvas. Here, you need to blend the colors. You can either use tick painting just out of the tube or you can use a watery painting. It’s all about the style of painting you want.
You need to use a thin brush to obtain special effects such as clouds, birds, etc. A large brush will not do much here. You can make different layers of acrylic on the surface to get different textures and effects. Other mediums (different brush sizes, knives) can also be added to get different styles. A palette knife can help create the final textures.
This stage of painting is very important to give the artwork a professional look. It's all a matter of the application of the correct technique. For example, consider the background; you need a green color on top that transitions into a blue color all the way down the canvas.
First, divide the canvas vertically into three sections. Paint the upper segment green and the lower segment blue. For the middle part, mix both colors slightly, make sure not to blend too much, keep it half-mixed, and then start painting the middle part. Start by blending upward into the green area, using long horizontal strokes. Similarly, blend the lower part in the same manner.
A Pro Tip: To achieve perfect blending, use more of a green shade when blending into the green part and more of a blue shade when blending into the blue part.
Each painting contains certain objects, such as ships, horses, geometric shapes, etc. Once the background is dried, use a light pencil to draw your object. Next, with a small brush, start painting the object. Once the base paint is applied, use different brushes to add different colors and shades to create a more realistic look.
Once the painting is complete and you're satisfied, it's time to let it cool off and dry. Acrylics usually dry quickly, but 24 hours should be given after your painting to let them dry completely. During this period, it is strictly advised that you do not move or touch your artwork at all, as this might cause disturbances for the paint and, as a result, a not-so-good final painting.
Once the painting has dried off nicely, it is time to apply the final touches to it. The finalization depends on what you want to do with the painting now. If you want to sell it at a gallery or online, you can add varnish to it that will add a protective layer on top of the painting.
Another important element is adding the frame to the painting, which will make it look more appealing. If you want to store the painting, you can cover it up with a friendly material that won't disturb the painting and its colors.
Following are some tips you can use to create a better acrylic painting experience for yourself and a better final copy.
Prepare your canvas with gesso (a chalk-like material that provides a better surface for painting) that will get the painting surface ready to accept acrylic paints. A good canvas preparation before painting will result in a finer end quality. While some think this process isn't important and you can paint without it, it can add a different quality to your work. It only takes 5 minutes to do it, but it will benefit greatly in the big picture.
You must invest in high-quality equipment for your painting because cheap brushes and acrylics will always give a poor final result, no matter how hard you try. The vibrance of cheap acrylics is also very poor. Your set of brushes and their quality are core to creating a great painting.
Before starting the main painting, you must familiarize yourself with the paint brushes and the acrylics on a rough canvas. You can mix up the colors and see what blends you're getting.
For better practice, you can use all the elements from your actual painting, like the same paint brushes, acrylics, and the canvas that is going to be used for your main painting. This way, you will have experience before actually starting the painting.
Painting with acrylics is a game of layers. You should carefully work with the layers. To create a better final product, you can use thin layers and sandwich them on top of each other. A common method is to use lighter colors for the underlayers and then darker colors on top. A better way is to practice all these on an experimental basis before applying them to the main canvas.
If you haven't yet used acrylic paint, now is the time. Before using them for your main painting, try them out and familiarize yourself with them on an experimental basis. You can use them under different circumstances to see what results they offer.
How is the first layer prepared on a canvas before painting?
The first layer should always be the gesso, followed by a tone layer. The tone layer is just a slight wash that gets your canvas further ready for acrylics after the gesso is applied.
How do I remove acrylic paint?
Acrylic paint becomes permanent when it dries. Some liquids can be used to remove dry and semi-dry acrylics. These include thinners, some alcohol variants, and ammonia solutions.
Which is better: oil or acrylic?
Both oils and acrylics have pluses and minuses. Acrylics provide superior durability and adhesion qualities, while oils provide flexibility in blending choices. Oils retain moisture longer than acrylics.
]]>Another barrier was their exclusivity. There was one piece available in the whole world, which made it even more rare. But now, with the advent of all the new printing techniques, anyone can own that masterpiece.
In addition, some art shops sell art prints of lower quality at high prices. You need to determine a reasonable price for the art piece so that you are not overcharged. Next, the question is: How do you find the value of art prints? For this, we have curated a guide that will help you analyze the value of them. This guide is helpful for both buyers and artists. So, let's jump to our topic.
Art prints are high-quality renditions of an artist’s original paintings. The most common type of art print uses latex printers and is called a giclee prints. Art prints are different from ordinary posters that don’t have such high quality and are mass-printed using low-cost materials.
The main difference between ordinary and giclee prints is that giclee prints offer detailing of every brushstroke and the texture of the colors on the prints, just like the original art.
Through art prints, it is now possible for the artist to sell multiple copies of the same painting endlessly and for the buyer to get any piece they want. They are just like original paintings, and a layperson can't easily differentiate between the two.
They are also presented using frames and all the elements of an original painting, but at a much lower cost. Official art prints also have stamps and signatures that give a feeling of authenticity.
There are a lot of factors that guide the price of an art print.
The first factor is the artist and the price they want for their print. If they're world-renowned, they will likely sell their prints at a higher price point than the market average.
Pricing also depends on the individual art piece. An artist could have some expensive prints and some cheaper ones, depending on how much they value a particular piece. If it's a very famous piece, its art print would be more expensive than that of a less famous art piece.
Even with art prints, there are a limited number of official copies, which makes the per-piece cost more. Some artists like Miguel Camarena offer their prints as open editions, which means that there will be unlimited print copies available for their artwork for as long as Miguel decides to continue to reproduce them.
Another important factor is the quality of the artwork. Some art prints are hand-printed through the process of lithography, while others are printed on a latex printer. The value of hand-printed art is often higher than that of art printed on latex printers. Also, both have varying qualities but offer a top-grade end product.
Moreover, there are many other hybrid techniques where a print would be modified further to get even better quality. An example of this would be hand embellishment, where an artist adds a few more brushstrokes as a color and theme requirement to give the painting more of an original and desired look.
Some artists hand-brand their prints with their stamp or signature, which gives them a more exclusive look and feel. In some cases, the artists would send a postcard-like note to the buyer, which would give them a feeling of belongingness. Factors like these make the cost of the art print higher. Some artwork, like those created by artist Miguel Camarena, is exclusively reproduced by him, making it easier to identify and value.
Just like original paintings, art prints can also be sold with frames. There are many different types of presentation options offered by artists. While buying online from a website, artists might offer all these different options at checkout.
If the art piece is famous, its subsequent art print would be more expensive than the industry average. Similarly, if the art piece holds any political or cultural significance or is influenced by recent events, that would make it even more expensive.
The cost to print a bigger piece would be higher than that of a smaller piece. Similarly, the resolution also makes a big difference. A smaller art print for a bathroom would be of a lower cost than if the same piece of a bigger size were to be printed for use in a living room.
The most important factor in determining the price of an art print is obviously what the maker wants for that piece. If they think it’s exotic and should be of x price, no one can stop them from doing that. The following factors determine the value of art prints:
There are many auction houses out there that offer to sell art prints. Entities like Christie’s and Sotheby's are big auctioneers where art pieces are sold at reasonable prices. Moreover, you can look at what these auction houses do and how artwork is priced here to get an idea of the market.
If you want to buy an art print and are curious about whether its price is reasonable or not, you can do a market analysis to see if that price is reasonable or not. Looking at similar artists and artworks on the market gives some good insights into whether or not the piece you like is priced decently.
You can reach out to art galleries and studios and ask them for help. A simple message to an industry expert on their personal LinkedIn profile inquiring about whether this price is okay can get the job done. Studios like Miguel Camarena Art Gallery or the Smithsonian Institute in the US can help you on this journey.
Last but not least is the value and importance that an art piece holds in your mind. If this piece is one of a kind and there are not many in the art industry that offer this kind of work, a higher price point shouldn’t be a concern.
To put a reasonable price tag on your prints and to get an idea of the market, you can look at artists and galleries that offer similar art pieces.
Located in Arizona but digitally throughout the globe, Miguel Camarena offers both original works and art prints. His original works are priced at upwards of $30,000, but art prints of these pieces can be bought for as little as $100. You can also contact the gallery to get a consultation about the price tag you should offer for your prints. Also, Miguel Camarena’s artwork is available exclusively for purchase online through his website or in-store in his galleries.
Originally from the UK but with a global online store, Banksy offers a wide range of art prints. Moreover, they also offer high-quality custom printing services that you can get for your work. In your contact with them, you can ask for a suitable price range for your art print as well.
Yayoi Kusama, originally from Japan and has been in the industry for several decades, is a household name in the art industry. Yayoi Kusama offers a wide range of different types of art pieces for every kind of space imaginable. Their range of art prints is one of the best in the world.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Andy Warhol has been recognized as having some of the most famous art prints in the world. He has worked on Marilyn Monroe and marketing posters for many brands, such as Coca-Cola and Campbell's Soup.
Having your art prints priced in a decent price range isn't hard. Through all the sources mentioned above, you can work out an average price you can set for the artwork. After doing your analysis and knowing about the market, you will identify a reasonable price tag for your chosen art prints.
Where to buy/sell art prints?
Online marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, and Etsy consist of many kinds of art prints. As a seller, they can directly link up with your online store and offer you a great audience for your artwork.
Is it better to sell original art or prints?
Generally, original artworks are much more valuable investments than art prints over time; however, for simple decorating purposes, prints are a great option.
What is the standard print quality?
The recommended resolution for prints is 300 DPI (dots per inch). Anything lower than that might look okay on a computer screen but will get blurry when printed out on a canvas. It is, therefore, advised to keep the size of the final product in mind and how it will be used in a setting while making or printing your artwork.
]]>So here is the complete guide on how to choose art for a new home in Arizona. Whether you are a new homeowner or just want to renovate your home with a new vibe, these art suggestions are perfect for all. We bet your guests will never resist praising your art choices for your new home. So let's begin.
Buying art isn't as easy as it sounds. Sure, if you're an eccentric millionaire, you could make this decision in a second or through just a single phone call. But if you're an art collector who loves attention to detail or someone who wants to decorate your home with art that fits perfectly, you'll take your time doing the research and all the necessary SOPs before buying any art piece. When it comes specifically to Arizona, we have jotted down some factors that come into play while buying art.
Arizona has one of the most unique atmospheres and landscapes in the world. The climate is mostly hot and dry, so the paintings should be made with materials that can withstand such temperatures. Oil paintings and acrylics have good durability against heat, so they can be a decent consideration if the paintings are to be kept in Arizona.
While buying such art, you should consider Arizona’s desert hues, the Arizonian flora and fauna, the ecstatic Grand Canyon, and all that Arizona has to offer.
When buying art that depicts Arizona, it is imperative that you first consider the local artists. This is because the local artists will be the ones who are most familiar with the place and will depict Arizona the best. Moreover, this will also support the local community and its economy.
There are only a few artists that make Arizona art. However, the best Arizonian art still comes from artists within Arizona, whether it be wall paintings, sculptures, tapestries, photography, ceramics, or any other kind of artwork.
Arizona depicts the special wild west of America. From the longhorns and cowboys to the iconic Saguaro cactus and the beautiful Sonoran desert, this place offers the best of the southwest.
Southwestern art is an important consideration because if you want your art to represent Arizona, there is nothing better than the southwestern vibe. It is not only because Arizona is home to the southwestern style, but also because the southwestern art pieces are unique and look extremely exquisite.
While all of these considerations are important, it is also essential that you choose an art piece that you like the most. Whatever type of art piece it may be, it is imperative that you, yourself, like it first and foremost because it will be used for your purposes.
If you've spent time with longhorns or in a desert in the past, it can be a case that you've built an association or deep connection with these subject matters. Hence, you should buy from this particular segment of Arizona-based art rather than the more renowned pieces like those of the Grand Canyon or cactus-related artworks.
A very important factor to consider is the space where the artwork will be placed, the color scheme, and what the interior looks like. Art that represents Arizona mostly has vibrant hues and color schemes. If you want your space to look warm, you can go with pieces that have a combination of red, yellow, and orange colors. If you want a cooler space, you can opt for more vibrant colors like purple, blue, and green.
There are artworks in the Arizona market that have both these types of color themes and hues, along with many dynamic options, incorporated into them.
Another factor to consider is the size and scale of the painting against the wall or the interior it's going to be placed in. Both have to be directly proportional to each other.
If your room is small, you can opt for a relatively smaller painting. But if your room is large, a larger painting would look more suitable in such a space. You can also get consultations from an interior design expert who will guide you about the best colors and size considerations for your artwork.
Art is usually expensive. In order to find affordable art, you can dig deeper and find sources like local art galleries and fairs, online websites, and beginner artists. A very common thing available these days in the art market is the print-on-canvas category, where artists make high-quality, original-looking prints of their paintings.
This means the same painting can now be sold to multiple people at an affordable price and in various sizes. Prints on canvas are exponentially cheaper compared to original paintings. For instance, a print of an original painting costing more than $10,000 could be bought for as little as $100. This way, you could buy a lot of paintings while still staying within your budget.
All of the above factors are important when selecting artwork for your new home. If you want to set up all the rooms and spaces with wall art, it is important to notice that for specific rooms, there have to be specific paintings.
For instance, your living room should have a large painting or a combination of smaller paintings that cover the space well. Your bedroom should have artwork that’s calm and relaxing. Your kitchen can have abstract pottery or food-related art. Your bathroom should have paintings that are made of water-resistant and moisture-proof materials.
Many artists and art galleries in Arizona exhibit the great American Southwest culture. The most notable ones include Miguel Camarena Art Gallery, Thomas Muran, and James Turrell. Out of these, Miguel Camarena Art Gallery is one that's known to depict the most versatile range of Arizona.
Miguel Camarena Art Gallery has paintings from the artist-owner Miguel Angel Camarena, who has spent most of his life in Arizona and has a deep connection with the Arizona vibe. His artwork consists of dynamic Oatman donkeys, the vast Sonoran desert, the towering Grand Canyon, and the majestic longhorns. He has also painted pueblos, flamenco dancers, and horses in his work. He also has a wide range of prints on canvas that are offered at affordable prices. In addition, he also gives expert consultations to people looking for artwork.
Choosing artwork for a new home can be a daunting task. Different rooms in the house and different types of interiors need specific art pieces that would work best. This is the reason why proper research needs to be done before making the purchase.
An easier route could be outsourcing to an expert or getting consultation about what type of art to buy. Buying all the art pieces from one art vendor could mean that you can get a discounted bulk price. Or you could work with an expert consultant like the Miguel Camarena Art Gallery, who would assemble all the different types of art pieces you need.

From cinema and theater to putting your imagination in the form of a fiction book, art knows no boundaries. While some people argue that art is not as important as science and technology, we beg to differ. Art has a significantly integral role in our society.
Why Is Art Important?
For a second, imagine a world without art. Take out all the creativity in the world and all the innovative brilliance. How do you feel? Nothing in the world is like human thinking and creativity. Art is a side product of our creativity, and without it, we will be partially nonexistent.
Art has no language. Everyone understands a scenic painting and what it depicts, or a sculpture of a mother feeding her child. The audience it covers is huge because no limitation binds it. There’s a very famous saying: a picture is worth a thousand words, which perfectly describes what we’re talking about.
Through art, one can communicate something so deep that otherwise would be told in a lot of words. Moreover, sometimes something is painted that, even with a million words, cannot be expressed.
Remember how happy we used to get during our childhood when we were given colors and asked to draw something? Some artists still feel that way; they haven’t lost their fire and have gotten really better while doing it. Even a deaf or disabled person can communicate through art.
There have been examples of people with no arms drawing paintings by clenching the paintbrush in their teeth or their feet. This shows us the diversity of art.
Throughout the years, a lot of different types of cultures and historical shifts have occurred that have paved the way for different types of art, the most notable being the European Renaissance.
Different regions of the world depict different types of art, mainly because their culture is different and they have gone through different histories. This has a lot of impact on the mindsets people have, which largely impacts the type of art they make.
A lot of informal historical documentation is also done through art. If we want to look at a certain time in history, we can look at the art from that period because it usually offers vivid illustrations.
Artists like Leonardo da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, and Michelangelo are among the most famous artists who have been impacted by various times in history and whose artwork has impacted millions, if not billions.
Art is known to uplift environments. Imagine how boring a space would be without its various decorations. The first thing that comes to mind in order to increase the beauty of a place is its appearance and how various modifications can be done to increase its aesthetic nature.
Think of things like the wall paint color and the interior design, which also consists of adding paintings and other decorative pieces to it like sculptures. Without these, it would all look dull.
Abstract art is something that's known to work in almost all spaces because of the wide range of emotions and depictions it can offer. The interpretation of abstract art is different for different people based on how their thinking works.
Art regulates money. Whether it be a painter buying art supplies or equipment or an art collector buying art for their collection, a lot of money flows in a lot of directions. Drawing and making art are things that don't usually require formal education but only skill. It's a profession unlike any other.
One can practice it, get better at it, and go pro by selling the pieces they have made. The most expensive painting in the world, the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, is valued these days at almost $1 billion, which is way too much if compared with work from other professions.
Art never goes out of style. It always stays relevant. Paintings or artwork made centuries ago are still worth millions. If kept and stored properly, it will stay around for eternity. No matter how changing the circumstances become, art stays the same.
There's a huge level of eccentricity attached to art as well, where millionaires buy it for millions at auctions just because of its historical significance.
With the advent of new technologies and restoration techniques, art has become more durable. The current era is for digital prints, also known as prints on canvas. Digital printing techniques mean that a single painting can now be copied and sold by the artist multiple times to different people, which wasn't the case before.
One of the first things a kid learns is to draw. They build a special kind of association with colors, as if it were present naturally in them. Schools recognize this and use it as a learning technique because pupils pick it up fast.
Teachers use this to build motor and cognitive skills, hand-eye coordination, hand stability, and creativity. It teaches all these things to kids while, at the same time, promoting them to be creative. Unlike other subjects where there’s one definitive answer, art is versatile in this sense. It's one of the best ways to educate students on the most basic things and build their interest in learning moving forward.
Art demands active observation. Artists analyze details, colors, shapes, and compositions and piece together their intentions and interpretations. This helps to strengthen the ability to observe and analyze complex information.
On the other hand, art forces artists to make decisions about composition, color, technique, and meaning. This challenges the brain to think creatively and find solutions for tackling real-world problems.
A lot of people indulge in making art to get away from their troubles. It soothes them and brings them to peace. Just like many other positive habits, making and collecting art is also a great way to induce dopamine in the brain.
People suffering from trauma can decrease their bad psychological effects through painting and taking part in other such activities. Another great thing in the world of art is the stress-reducing coloring book. It can work wonders for you and your mental health. It looks like this.
There has been a lot of debate about which is more important: art or science. One can't live and thrive without another. Science is art, and art is science. For a scientist to incorporate all the scientific laws and theories and then to be creative and make something special, art is required. They have to be imaginative while making something new. No innovation is possible without art. Only an artist could have been able to draw the basic design of an airplane and then bring it to life.
Similarly, all the blueprints that are made before practically making something are a form of art. On the other hand, art needs science. An artist uses and incorporates different types of color schemes, which aren't possible without the basic laws of colors. Leonardo da Vinci was an artist known to use art and science side by side. His paintings are mathematically brilliant, with perfect ratios, and are regarded as the best in the business.
Art is an extremely important segment of our society. It drives creativity and is important for our society for many reasons, such as the economy, innovation, growth, child development, and therapy. People deem it unimportant because of its indirect relationship with society when, in reality, it drives a lot of things in our lives.
What would life be without art?
Life without art would be deprived of beauty and creativity. There wouldn't be books, music, or films to entertain or inspire us. Life would be without color and vibrance.
What is the purpose of art?
The purpose of art is to entertain, soothe, and inspire us. It is also to provoke thoughts and make us think outside the box. It takes us away from everyday life and helps us introspect and ponder the big picture of life.
What are the different types of art?
There are many different types of art, such as fine arts (paintings and sculptures), applied arts (architecture), performance arts (music and theater), decorative art (ornaments and models), et cetera.
What are the new developments in art?
Digital art is something new. It consists of things like prints on canvas and graphic design using software like Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. Prints on canvas introduce the possibility of having multiple high-quality copies of the same painting.
Who are considered the best artists in the world?
Leonardo da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, Salvador Dali, Henri Matisse, and Johannes Vermeer are among the most notable artists to have ever lived.

]]>The most common dirt that wall art pieces often face is dust. While it may look simple to clean, the opposite is true. You should be very careful before cleaning any painting because there is a huge risk you might damage it. You should know about the painting material used and what type of cleaning criteria would suit it best.
There are many different types of paintings, the most common being acrylic paintings, oil paintings, and giclee prints on canvas. They all have completely different cleaning criteria. What works for one type of painting might damage another.
Alcohol is a very famous cleaning substance in many cases outside of the art world, but here, it may damage your artwork. Instead, you should follow a very careful approach.
Acrylic paint is a type of paint that’s mixed with a water-soluble resin. It dries quickly and becomes water-resistant afterward. It’s a great painting material because it has superior appearance characteristics and depth, similar to those of watercolors and oil paintings.
However, they are more durable than oil and watercolor paintings and crack less often. On the flip side, they attract more dust than oils and watercolors because they have a softer texture. They need to be cleaned on a periodic basis, and sometimes only a touch-up would be enough.
Sometimes, all a painting needs to stay clean is dusting now and then. Dusting can be done with a dry piece of cloth or with a soft-bristled brush. A soft-bristled brush is a great tool for cleaning the dust off of any painting. The brush should be rubbed gently on the exterior of the painting with long, consistent strokes.
If there is a thicker layer of dust, a mini car vacuum cleaner can assist in removing the dust from the painting. It is important to clean the dust off of the paintings regularly, as this will keep them fresh. On the other hand, if they are not cleaned regularly, after a longer period, a thicker layer of dust can accumulate on the painting, which is harder or sometimes impossible to clean.
Fill a container with clean, lukewarm water and add some drops of non-acidic dish detergent. Mix both until a solution is formed. This solution can then be used to clean dirt and dust spots on the acrylic painting. The detergent works as an emulsification agent that will help the dirt leave the painting surface, and the water will then wash it away.
The best cleaning material would be cotton or a microfiber cloth. Wet the cotton in the solution, press to remove all the excess water, and then apply it to the painting. In the case of a sponge, shake it to the point that it’s only slightly damp and not wet.
Beware in the case of some water-soluble acrylic paints. If there is a lot of moisture in the cloth, it will dissolve the paint, severely damaging the painting. After making the cloth slightly moist, using long, straight, or diagonal strokes, go over the painting gently. Don’t apply pressure at all, as this, too, might damage the painting.
Another great option is to save the painting from dust or grime before it’s accumulated on the surface. One way to do this is by applying varnish to the surface of the painting. However, a specific varnish should be selected that’s suitable for the type of acrylic paint you have.
Before applying the varnish, the painting should be gently brushed off with a dry material so that no dust accumulates between the painting and the varnish. The varnish can be gently brushed or sprayed onto the painting and then left to dry. Afterward, the painting will be more resistant to dust and will remain cleaner.
Cigarette smoke is hugely damaging to any type of painting. Even for acrylic paintings, which are known for their superior durability, cigarette smoke can badly affect their appearance.
However, there are many ways to clean cigarette smoke off of an acrylic painting. Given below are some DIY home techniques that can be used. It should be noted that if these don’t work, you should opt for the help of a professional.
Cleaning any painting is a very intricate process, especially if you’re doing it yourself at home without any prior experience or knowledge. You should do careful and thorough research about the painting material and the cleaning equipment that will be used. Some important points to note are:
While it’s okay to do your research and clean your paintings yourself, it is always advised to look for the services of a professional. It would not only make the paintings cleaner but would also give you insights into how to get them cleaned the next time.
You can also ask for tips, tricks, and hacks on how your paintings can be stored better. Moreover, you can also ask them to apply framing to the painting so that you can clean the painting yourself. It is unsafe to clean the painting yourself. But if you are confident and have done enough research, you can then go ahead and give it a try.
Can I wash a canvas painting?
Washing a canvas painting at home is not recommended, as it requires caution. There are chances of damage, which you wouldn't want to do, especially if the painting is expensive or old. Washing can also cause the canvas to stretch or shrink, which can affect the painting's overall stability.
Can acrylic paint be washed off a canvas?
Yes, acrylic paint can be washed off a canvas when it is wet. Once it dries, it will need the help of a solvent to be removed.
]]>Their adaptability and resilience in various environments make them fascinating. In short, they consistently prove themselves to be much more than what meets the eye. So here we are, ready to go deep into 10 of the most fun facts about burros that will hook you until the end. Let's begin.
Donkeys are amazing creatures. Here are some of their unique characteristics:
Most of the donkeys evolved in dry areas in Asia and Africa, where they are usually found in herds. Their long and large ears increase their hearing sense, which helps them hear the sounds of other herd burros, as well as predators, from afar.
Since they have evolved in arid locations, their long ears help with heat dissipation. The large surface area of a donkey’s ears helps it get rid of heat quickly so that it can stay cool in hot environments such as deserts.
The sound that burros make is called braying. This sound is unique amongst all the equids because it can only be made by these creatures and not by horses or zebras. Donkeys can vocalize while inhaling and exhaling.
The characteristic hee-haw occurs like this: hee during inhaling air and haw during exhaling. While this sound is characteristic of all burros, there is still some variation. The duration and frequency of a bray are different for each of them, and hence, all donkeys make somewhat different voices.
Poitou is a region in France, and the breed that was developed here is called the Poitou donkey. It stands out amongst all such other breeds because of its unique appearance.
This breed was made in the 18th century. They have a long and thick coat. The burros that have a longer and thicker coat are considered more special.
As there was a decline in the use of burros and mules in recent times, poitou breeding also decreased. In 1977, only 44 such donkeys were left. But since then, their numbers have increased, thanks to conservation efforts and private breeders.
Donkeys have a lot of hybrids. As they are similar to zebras and horses, they can mate with them and produce hybrid offspring. In the past, these hybrids were produced abundantly because mules were very popular workers. The different types of burro hybrids have different names.
Naturally, burros are aggressive toward canids. They can, hence, be used as guardians for farm animals. They can easily defend their herd against dogs, foxes, coyotes, and even bobcats. Hence, the herd starts to see them as guardians and protectors and will move to them if they sense any danger.
Contrary to popular belief, donkeys are stronger than horses. As a result of this, they are used globally as cheap workers and, a lot of times, pushed to their endurance limits. They have been used for centuries as pack animals, mainly because they can walk in almost any kind of terrain.
While the average height of burros ranges from 36 to 48 inches and weighs about 181 to 227 kilograms, they are found in a lot of varying sizes. KneeHi is considered the shortest donkey in the world by the Guinness World Records. KneeHi stands at a height of 24.29 inches.
On the contrary, the tallest donkey in the world is Romulus, as certified by the Guinness World Records. Romulus stands at a height of 68 inches and weighs about 590 kilograms.
Donkeys have mainly lived in groups and herds, which has made them quite social. They can develop friendships and deep bonds with other donkeys that they live with.
Just like other such animals, a pair bond can be developed between two close donkeys. It has been proven by scientific research that separating such donkeys is not good for the pair. This can cause things like depression and even a loss of appetite for them.
It is hence advised that instead of a single donkey, a pair should be bought. If that’s not possible, they should be placed in an environment where they have some potential friends, like horses or zebras.
Wild donkeys are of two main types: the Asiatic donkey and the African donkey. However, the ancestors of the domesticated donkeys found today are African donkeys. Even though they were domesticated about 5,000 years ago, they are in danger of being extinct.
The African wild burro is critically endangered, with only between 23 and 200 wild adults left in the world. This mainly happened because it was used for medicinal and food purposes. However, a lot of conversational efforts are happening in order to save these species.
Donkeys are quite often known for their stubborn and obstinate behavior. Sometimes, they would stay fixed in their place despite someone trying to pull them hard. This isn’t because they’re dull or dumb, as is commonly believed. Actually, it’s the opposite.
They have a strong sense of self-preservation. When they feel unsafe, rather than running away, they would stand still in their place and take time to make their decision. On the other hand, horses flee when presented with such a situation.

]]>Burro is just another word for donkey. Arizona has a rich burro culture, and tourists and residents love it. Wild burros are found mainly in the shape of herds in the mountains, but a few come to town every day and interact with people.
The natives and the tourists offer them food. These wild burros are always very friendly with the people, as if this were inherently present in their nature. Hence, the people love them and are pleased by their presence.
North American donkeys constitute about 0.1% of the world’s overall donkey population. In the second expedition of Christopher Columbus in the 15th century, these donkeys were brought from Europe into the New World. In what is now known as the United States, they came in the 17th century.
In the Black Mountains of Arizona, a small village was named after a young girl from Illinois whom the Indians captured. The girl’s name was Olive Oatman, and the town was named Oatman. In 1915, a $10 million gold find was discovered in the city. Soon after that, the population rose to 3,500 in the first year. At that time, the Oatman mines were the largest gold producers in the West.
Nowadays, the main route to Oatman is the historic Route 66, but at the time of the gold rush, the mines and mills set up for gold were in remote places. The way to the gold mine was mountainous and rough. Hence, there was a need for transportation, so more donkeys were brought in.
These donkeys were to be used as pack animals, and they had to help carry the miscellaneous equipment and items during the gold mining. The burros seen nowadays in the town are direct descendants of the donkeys used in mining. The miners freed the donkeys when the mining stopped, and these donkeys started living in the mountains.
Tourists and natives love the burros that visit the town. The donkeys can come in as early as 7 a.m. and leave when the town closes, at 5 in the evening. The people feed them food and play with them.
Nearby, a couple runs a rescue ranch for these donkeys. They help injured burros and provide shelter to some as well. They are considered the unofficial burro rescue organization in the town and are the go-to for anyone having burro issues.
The donkeys were originally brought in because of the gold mining but soon became a cultural element associated with the town. All the inhabitants of the town and even the whole of Arizona consider burros to be part of their national heritage.
It has been instilled in them since childhood and has become a part of their lives. While people usually don’t keep donkeys as pets, they have souvenirs where they will have donkey art pieces in their home and office spaces.
The rich donkey culture in Arizona has also paved the way for many artists who make such art pieces. Among these artists, Miguel Camarena is one of the most popular, making donkey art with a special blend. Camarena operates the Miguel Camarena Art Gallery, which is one of the hotspots for tourists in the area. It is located in Cave Creek, Arizona.
The art gallery mainly has natural paintings such as native animals, including donkeys, horses, cows, and longhorns, and it also has art pieces like The Grand Canyon and various desert landscapes.
The various vibrant blends and hues with which these paintings are canvassed make them a perfect fit for wall art in any space. People from all over the world buy these paintings because of their rich significance.
Donkeys are among the animals that are not respected enough throughout the world. Despite the amount of work they do, they aren't usually credited for it. There are some ways through which appreciation can be shown, and more people can be made aware of their beauty.
While this might not be the most appealing proposition, it can still be a consideration, depending on your love for donkeys. In a similar case, some people have built donkey ranches next to their homes, where they provide relief and shelter to homeless donkeys.
A lot of families have domesticated donkeys, which means that donkeys work and earn for the family. They carry huge loads, work as transport vehicles, or are used in agriculture. In many cases, even a single donkey is enough to cover all the expenses of a large family in Asia or Africa. However, even after all that hard work, they are still given a tough time and are not appreciated.
A great way to not only honor donkeys but also create awareness about them in your social circle is by exhibiting donkey art. There are a number of ways this can be done. The first one is to set up a donkey wall art in your home or office space.
Other ways could be owning a miniature donkey toy placed on your work table or having donkey art set up as your wallpaper. People who have had a family history or a personal relationship with donkeys do these things because of their utmost love and affection for them.
Many non-profit organizations work for donkeys. They provide shelter, food, medicine, and much more to donkeys that are in need of it. Supporting these organizations, either financially or as a volunteer, can do a lot for donkeys.
Some foundations have also taken up the task of saving the critically endangered donkeys. They have set up places where donkeys can be in their comfort zone and stay healthy. Because of these efforts, the population of endangered donkeys has increased.

]]>This is because wall art won’t take up any physical space and will just get hung on the walls. Wall art can showcase a multitude of different kinds of designs, ranging from natural landscapes and motivational pieces to much more.
Wall art for an office consists of a range of different options, such as these:
One can never go wrong with abstract art. Abstract art uses shapes and blends of colors to create something that doesn’t have a single meaning. Instead, it encourages the viewer to imagine and form its meaning. The meaning varies from person to person.
Abstract art is normally a big hit in an office setting. It makes the space look formal, yet it still adds a rich flavour. There are different themes and styles in abstract art, and you can decide which one fits perfectly within your space.
Nature is an art genre that resonates with everyone. It consists of landscapes, animal portraits, and plant paintings. It depicts themes of vastness, beauty, and spirituality. Above all, it’s aesthetically pleasing to the eye and fits perfectly in an office setting.
Nature and landscape art provide a reminder of rewards—that after doing good work at the office and succeeding, you’re now eligible to treat yourself, take a break, and spend time with nature.

Motivational art can be a great catalyst for influencing your employees. It can be anything from self-help quotes to paintings that depict courage, persistence, and commitment. Some employees do this on their own; they will pin something on their cubicle wall that motivates them.
A running horse can be a great catalyst for motivation. It can impart feelings of strength to the viewers. Similarly, a raging bull can also invoke power and vitality. It can also be a motivational quote or a piece of art, or it can simply be a picture of their family that acts as a big motivating factor for them.
Another way to decorate your office space is by incorporating local art from the community your office is based in. It can be a good way to support and give a sense of belonging to the local community. For instance, if your office is located in Arizona, you can decorate your walls with Arizona desert landscape art.
Apart from the original paintings and prints on canvases, wall paintings can also be done directly on the office walls. In office cafeterias or social spaces, things like sculptures and murals can be added, which enhance the beauty of the space.
Employees are the most integral part of a company. Many companies have adopted the ‘people first’ culture, and as a part of that, they can add paintings made by the employees. It will give employees a sense of belonging.
A special space can be designated where employees can add their artistry. Just like a notice board for important circulars and information, a corkboard can be set up for employee artwork.
Paintings and artwork that depict the company’s culture and mission statement can be a great way to act as a reminder, rather than just putting it in words and statements.
A portrait that exhibits what the company’s core values are is a smart way to communicate with the employees using an engaging medium. It can work more effectively than just words.
Custom art can be made by artists depicting a company’s wins. It can be something like a company’s biggest deal, a portrait of its founder, or a depiction of the company’s roots. For instance, a cool 3D visualization can be made of the company’s recent performance, depicted in a bar or a line graph.
Wall art for an office is broad, and countless themes can be incorporated. However, other important elements come into play here.
When incorporating artwork into an office space, color schemes are vital. The painting should fit within the overall interior of the workspace. Art experts know of colors that work well with each other and can help you decide what type of art to choose.
It is important to bring these factors into play. Otherwise, a good painting might not fit well within a space. Before buying the painting, a simple consultation can help with setting up the perfect artwork. The color of the frame should also match the overall color theme.
Just like color schemes, artwork size and layout are other important factors. A big painting for a relatively smaller space might not work too well, just as a smaller painting for a bigger space would become ineffective.
It is important, hence, to consider the size proportions while setting up a painting in an office setting. Experts can do that. They work mathematically and can help with the proportions. Similarly, the frame and its width should also be carefully chosen.
Not every type of art can be used in an office setting. Whether it’s an abstract or a landscape artwork, it has to have a meaning behind it. Some artworks might not feel related, but they have a deep meaning behind them.
For example, a Pueblos painting doesn’t seem to have any connection with an office space. However, the founder of the company might have the company’s roots coming from it and hence has significance.
Another thing that can be done to create a streamlined wall art experience throughout the office space is to buy wholesale. This will not only ensure uniformity among the designs but can also cut you an extremely reasonable deal.

An expert has studied and has been in the industry for a long time. Miguel Camarena Art Gallery’s roots go back many decades. Its paintings are usually nature-specific because of the love for nature. Their absolutely free consultation is something that’s a no-brainer.
What kind of art is best for an office?
A lot of different kinds of artwork can work in an office setting. The art genres perfect for offices include abstracts, landscapes, and motivational pieces. These include things like natural art and animal portraits that can work as a motivational source for the employees.
How to pick the best size proportions and color schemes for your office art?
Size proportions and color schemes are essentially important while selecting art. Not every size and color can work, and hence, it should be matched with the interior it’s going to be placed in. Expert consultation can be a great way to achieve the best designs.
How to set up wall art for a work-from-home office setting?
Art for a home office is incorporated to make the space more appealing. This can be done through wall hanging art or put in a frame on the workspace table. The art genre can be a landscape, a nature-related art piece, or anything personal that motivates you.
It can also be a motivational piece or an inspiring quote. Now that work from home has become abundant, and people work on computers and laptops, art can be incorporated into their laptops as wallpapers and home screen designs.
An attractive frame can improve the overall presentation of the artwork and enhance its aesthetic appeal. In addition, it serves as a shield against dust, moisture, and other harm to the painting.
Let us begin the framing process together so that a beautifully framеd canvas can boost the impact of your artwork.
Whether you are an artist trying to show off your work or a simple framer looking to frame a rolled or stretched painting or print, this article will walk you through the steps to create a nice and eye-catching presentation.
Let's begin by learning the art of framing a canvas with flair.
Pick a frame that goes well with your artwork. Pay attention to the frame's design, color, and material. Popular choices for frames include those made of metal, wood, and plastic. An elegant metal frame could complement a contemporary abstract piece of art, while a traditional wood frame may complement a traditional landscape.
To choose the size frame you need, measure your canvas print. Make sure to leave enough space for the frame to overlap the canvas slightly.
Put the mat board inside the frame if it is included with the frame. The mat board creates a space between the piece of art and the glass or acrylic sheet and gives it a more polished appearance.
The glass or acrylic sheets you are using should be spotless and free of any blemishes or scratches. Place it directly on top of your canvas or over the mat board.
Now stick the print on the board. For this, use squash tape and apply it to all the edges of the prints. Now carefully place the print in the wooden frame. Make sure your canvas print is straight and centered before inserting it into the frame.
You might need to use mounting hardware, such as clips or screws, depending on the design and size of your frame, to hold the DIY canvas frame in place.
Artwork can be shielded from dust and damage by including glass in a canvas frame. To accomplish this, you would typically employ a method known as canvas glazing, also known as canvas framing with glass.
Buy a custom-sized glass that matches the frame's dimensions. Make sure the glass is clear and free of scratches and blemishes.
Hanging hardwarе, such as D rings or wire, should be attached to the frame after you have turned your artistically framed painting canvas over. Make sure it has enough strength so that it can support the weight of your artwork.
Taking into account the height at which you intend to display your framing canvas painting, measure and mark the desired hanging position on the back of the frame.
Mark the location on the wall where you want to hang your framе-painted canvas using a measuring tape, pencil, and lеvеl. It should be centered and at the desired height.
Make sure the wall anchors, hooks, or nails you use to fasten the framing can support its weight and set them in the designated locations. Make sure the framеd canvas is literally hung on the wall.
A canvas' longevity and aesthetic prеsеrvation depend on regular maintenance and care.
Maintaining your framed canvas painting requires a number of crucial steps.
In summary, when it comes to framing and hanging your canvas art, there are important steps to follow to make it look great. First, pick the right frame that matches your art's style, and measure your canvas properly to get the right size. Then, make sure your frame is in good shape, and if it includes a mat board, use it to make your art look polished.
Clean and clear glass or acrylic sheets can protect your art. Next, attach hanging hardware that's strong enough to hold your artwork securely. Finally, measure and mark the wall where you want to hang your framed canvas, and make sure you use the right anchors or hooks to support the weight. With these steps, you can proudly display your artwork in a way that adds charm to any room.

]]>The artists can be unorthodox in their methods and way of life, which paves the way for creativity in their artwork. The buyers, however, are usually people who are sophisticated and value art.
From the perspective of the buyer, here are some rules and buying art etiquette.
No matter what field it may be, research will always be a key element. In a broader sense, this research will help you make informed decisions. Research enables us to know about the different trends in the art community as well as the front runners in the art genre we’re interested in.
The research starts with browsing the art theme or genre you’re looking for and jotting down all the artists that fall under that umbrella. Then, by looking at all their artwork online, you can easily specify the pieces they’re interested in. After these steps, going to the gallery or seeing the artwork in person comes into play.
As mentioned above, after doing the research, visiting and seeing the art pieces live is of vital importance. This is essential for many reasons, one of which is that the buyer can get to meet the artist and learn about their thought processes and background.
Visiting art galleries also enables us to build a network of contacts with like-minded people. This gets us up to speed on the trending bits and pieces and educates us about the field. Being a regular at these galleries and having contacts can also make you an esteemed member and make you eligible for different perks and discounts.
An example is the Miguel Camarena Art Gallery in Cave Creek, Arizona, which operates both as an online and a physically present art gallery. Miguel Camarena has a wide portfolio that depicts the diverse natural American and Spanish cultures.

Confucius said, 'The man who asks a question is a fool for a minute; the man who does not ask is a fool for life.' If you’re a genuine buyer, you should ask as many questions as you need clarification on. The gallery, the art dealer, or even the artist should address and answer all of these questions.
While asking questions is important, it is also important to be polite and considerate of everyone’s time. The buyer should be curious, ask a lot of questions regarding the process, and then make the final decision. If a term is being spoken of that you don’t understand, you should have the agent explain it.
Artworks are delicate and should be handled with due care. The buyer should inquire about the whole process, the last of which is transportation. How will that artwork get to their home? While it may seem tedious, inquiring about the small details is important.
Things like how the artwork will be handled, which means of transport will be used, and how the artwork will be wrapped so that it doesn’t come into contact with anything that could be tampered with or damaged are all valid questions that should be asked.
Art Insurance is usually considered a must-have in the case of more expensive art pieces. Insurance would protect the art and provide coverage in case any damages occur.
This might not be needed at all in many cases, but the past has told us that in the one-in-a-million cases where it occurs, it’s of vital importance to get yourself saved from the loss.
In today’s digital age, a lot of prints on canvases have come into the equation that can duplicate and portray the same artwork in a manner that looks absolutely real. Hence, verifying the authenticity of the artwork is vital.
This can be done if we have a diverse art network and are well-informed and educated about the industry. Direct contact with the artist also comes in handy.
Last but not least, when it comes to buying artwork, you should always buy in the genre and blend you like the most. If the artwork doesn’t connect with them, it should not be bought, even if it’s a hit and well-recognized in the industry. It is also important not to only go toward the more famous artists.
The radar should be broad, and even the up-and-comers should be accommodated in their buying journey. The art piece will eventually be placed in a space where you will look at it often. Therefore, it should be something that you adore and like a lot.
The buying routine starts with research, both digital and in-person. The curiosity of the buyer is a key element, and you should ask as many questions as you feel necessary. The sale should happen through a proper channel, and the ethical element must be considered.
Afterward, the buyer and the seller should both be on the same page regarding the transportation of the artwork and the paperwork associated with it. Insurance comes into play if the buyer feels the need for it.
What’s the most important thing to look for when buying art?
Originality is something that’s considered absolutely vital in the art industry. Most rookie designers, in order to jump-start their careers, copy the more renowned artists. However, they eventually progress and find their mojo. It is, hence, important to classify and look for originality while buying artwork.
Should one tip when buying art?
This completely depends on the buyer. There’s no such obligation that makes it a must in an art transaction. It’s more a question of will and trying to help a new artist and make them feel motivated. You can give an artist a tip in addition to the standard payment if you find their artwork impressive.
What is etiquette in art?
There are no set criteria, but it is more a matter of common sense. Some etiquette includes keeping judgments to yourself and being transparent and curious.
